On many hoover models the hose attaches to the vacuum and is held on by a clip on the hose assembly. There may be some damage to your hose or the place where it attaches to the machine. Inspect these areas trying to locate the point of the leak.
You may wish to check and see if the leak is where the small water supply hose is plugged in to the cleaner base. That connecction supplies water from the product, to the spray end on the upholstery hose.
Easliy download the manual at Hoover.com.
The hose attached in the front of the unit on the clear front panel. Lift up the center cap and attached the hose. Then attache the supply hose to the side of steam vac for your solution.
Go to www.Hoover.com. Click on Carpet Cleaners. Click on Steam Vac All Terrain. Click on Learn more. Then click on Download the manual in pdf. The manual explains all.
I have the same problem with my hoover steam vac, different model but same problem. So I have had it for 2 years and never used the attachments because the thing leaked out the bottom when i tried. So today I tried to find a solution online and found nothing. So I started toying with the thing and found a solution for my model and I hope it will work for everyone else. I don't have a stair attachment so this goes for the upholstery cleaning attachment. I noticed right where my upholstery attachment connects to get soap, there is a second hole that is covered by a white rubber seal when the cover for the connection area is closed. I put a plastic bag, or anything to seal it, into this hole to make a tight seal. Tried the machine and worked like a champ. So Would be nice if hoover supplied a plug for that, but oh well worked for me hope it works for others with a hoover steam vac.

Posted by castcomm on May 29, 2008 How do you dismantle handle to replace aforementioned hose? Swing arm on unit goes all the way to the floor. Is this normal? Is there a "stop" broken that caused the hose to stretch, and ultimately break? Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.Hoover SteamVac Carpet / Upholstery Deep Carpet Cleaner. There are handle screws that you can get into the handle and then you can back track the replace the interior hose for the cleaning attachment. There should not be a stop that caused the hose to stretch ad break. The hoses after a while do get old crack and break due from normal use or if the bend @ sharp angles, this is common among all vinyl vacuum cleaner hoses. Furniture cleaning isn't a science: try out a few techniques before choosing the one that is right for your belongings. This step-by-step guide explains how to clean a sofa:
Before using any upholstery cleaning products, vacuum the sofa or chair first to remove as much surface dirt and dust as possible. Be sure to use the correct attachments to avoid damage to the material - a soft brush attachment is ideal.
Spot Clean. Using baby wipes or vinegar poured onto a strong microfiber cloth, apply to any obvious stains, wiping gently as you go. Remember to test the upholstery cleaning products on an inconspicuous area first.
Overall Clean. Using soapy water and a microfibre cloth, gently wipe your sofa with the solution, allowing it to soak into the fabric and tackle the dirt beneath the surface. You only want to use a very small amount of water - don't saturate the material.
Dry. Some people use a hairdryer to quickly dry a sofa, but allowing it to dry naturally is always the better option, if you have the time. To speed things up, open windows and allow the breeze to help with the drying process.
Don't listen to Solution #1, it is simply NOT correct. This is the correct answer:
As you stated, you already know where the water hose connection
is. It is under the easily visible port cover on the top of the
base.
What is NOT easily visible is the connection for the vacuum hose.
That's because the machine needs to be "reconfigured" before the hose
can be attached. To "reconfigure" the machine:
1) Remove the cover off the waste water tank and notice how things appear--it will soon be important.
2) Find and remove the "panel" on the front of the waste water tank by sliding it straight up and out.
3) Replace the panel with the connector by sliding it straight
down. When finished the top should look something like it did in
step 1). This assures that the dirty water will be vacuumed into
the waste water tank.
Done!
