You can reset your remote control by removing the batteries, pressing all of its buttons, and installing new batteries. Also, ensure that your TV's sensor is clean and unobstructed. If the problem persists, try using a universal remote control as a troubleshooting step. This will help identify whether the original remote or the TV is at fault.
Check the remote lens on the TV for some dust and if present remove it. You can even use some alcohol to remove the dust. You can even try pressing the small reset button on the bottom of the remote after removing the batteries. Use new batteries.

Did you install the batteries correctly?
Some remotes (Universal) need to be re-programed when you install new batteries.

Remote control problem: your going to laugh at this but this was an easy fix, after my husband told me that there was something wrong with it, I tried to use the remote and he was right, it wasn't working. I changed the batteries that evening and sure enough it still wasn't working. The next day I had a closer look and thought that it wasn't right that a new t.v. remote wouldn't work, and lo and behold the problem? My housekeeper put a picture right in front of the electric eye of the t.v.! Guess what, it works quite fine again, thank-you for your time, and I am glad that it wasn't anything major. Peggy
Try a new Remote control, and if that doesn't fix the problem, it may be a remote sensor in the set. Hope this helps. Have a great weekend

recently I also got same recorder and faced the same
problem with the remote controller.
today i tried to solve this. i opened it up. it turned
out the battery connections are not proper.
The battery connection are in the form of a spring
coil which touches the outerside of the battery which
is not touching properly. I bent and slight lift it with
a plier and it started working.
The other connection is touching front side of the
battery(on backside you see label cr2025 printed) and
this is alright. I hope it works for you too.

Your remote is going bad and the only solution is to buy another one or buy a universal but it will only let you use the basic functions like play,rew,ff , stop and on time recording, I don think it will let you program for recording it or use the menu,a new remote will cost almost as much as a new VCR.The universal is a very inexpensive option.
