Another Quest. when scanning the scanner lights and gives options but isnt able to connect why?

check and test hubs and abs system possible hub or sensor failing ---a few places that scan for free usually dont use a scanner that can do some of the codes areas like abs or transmission try have scanned again and ask if reader does abs system

use a different scan mode,like the one that came with computer

Regarding the Cannon scanner error 2145,50. I note you have tried to fix this, but failed. The actual problem is that the scanner will not communicate with the computer correctly if it is connected through a USB hub. A direct connection to the computer cures it.
I know, I had that problem. I am a retired elctronics design engineer.

Although different scanner has different option still I am giving you the general method of scanning.
Put the photo on the scanner (photo face down touching the glass of the scanner) - look the cover is perfectly placed and no light is entering inside of the scanner. Now run the scanner software - select scan item as "Photo" (other options are text or documents etc), select the option "Color" (other option is Black and white or gray ). Select the resolution more than 200 dpi (more dpi will give better output), give path where the file will be saved after scanning or keep it default, choose the file type JPEG is better (other options may be BMP, TIF etc). First you get preview - look the expected scan output - if required you adjust or lace the photo on the scanner better way - then again get preview - if you are satisfied you may select the portion out of the whole preview page for scanning - now click scan. It will give JPEG file in the specified location.

for normal scanning you can go to control panel and choose the option of scanner and camera wizard and do the scanning but it is good if you install the driver of printer which is contain the scanner software and give you more option of scanning.

I used a program called SmarThru 4 with the same printer-scanner. Works. Give it a try :).

The ADF has a minimum paper size. If you have set a size below A8 it may lock out the ADF option. Try setting the paper size to Letter. If this doesn't help, try swapping the scanners to see if the problem moves to the other PC. If so, it's a scanner hardware error. If it stays with the original PC, remove & reinstall the driver & the scanning application.

Check the cable that connects to the lid of the scanner. If it is disconnected, you won't get the Film options.
