Convert Circline 3-way torchier to regular led bulb

I have a torchier floor lamp that uses 2 Circline Fluorescent bulbs. It has two bulbs and it's a three-way. Each click lights one or the other or both bulbs. I'd like to replace it so I just have two regular LED bulbs. I don't need any dimming or anything. And it's fine if the first "click" doesn't do anything. I control it just with an on and off smart outlet

To replace the two Circline Fluorescent bulbs in your torchiere floor lamp with LED bulbs, you will need to purchase LED bulbs that are compatible with the lamp's socket and have the same wattage as the original bulbs. Here are the steps to replace the bulbs:

  1. Unplug the lamp from the wall outlet to ensure that it is completely powered off.
  2. Remove the glass shade from the lamp by unscrewing it or lifting it off.
  3. Locate the two fluorescent bulbs in the lamp and unscrew them from their sockets.
  4. Insert the new LED bulbs into the sockets, making sure that they are securely in place.
  5. Replace the glass shade on the lamp and plug the lamp back into the wall outlet.
  6. Turn on the lamp and test the new LED bulbs to make sure that they are working properly.
  7. If you want to control the lamp with a smart outlet, you will need to install a smart switch or plug to control the outlet.
Note that it may be impossible to make the first click to not do anything, as it is part of the design of the lamp and how it was made to switch between the two bulbs.

Will a dimmable LED 50-100-150W equivalent bulb work in my touch-lamp which currently uses a 50-100-150W incandescent bulb? Do they make them? A non-dimmable LED 3-way didn't work at all.

Your lamp is a three level dimmer as opposed to a 3 position switch.

The 3 level dimmer chops the voltage where as the 3 position switch powers 2 separate filaments (50, 100) inside the bulb either separately or all at once.

The 3-way bulb should not be necessary for an electronic 3 level dimmer. Any incandescent, or dimmable CFL or dimmable LED bulb should work.

My windward iii has a down light and an uplight. The down light no longer works. I ordered a new circline bulb and it still doesn’t work. Any ideas?

Most likely the ballast is bad. The circline bulb is a type of fluorescent bulb that depends on getting power from the ballast. You'll need to contact Hampton Bay Customer Service at 1-877-527-0313 during their business hours (8-6 PM M-F). Make sure that you have the SKU handy. If your ceiling fan was purchased less than two years ago, then you can try to get a warranty replacement. For best results, you should have registered the fan at gpwarranty.com . The address is:
G.P. Warranty Service Center, Inc.
Warranty Section
1951 N.W. 22nd STREET
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA 33311

I hope this helps.

Fixture not working after bulb change

"CFLs" Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (with built in ballast) must be labeled as dimmable to be used on a dimmer circuit.

Traditional fluorescent fixtures must have a dimmable ballast installed inside and can be used with standard fluorescent lamps.

Fluorescent lamps must be sized to match the ballast. CFL's are matched at the factory, but others are not. Older fluorescent lamp fixtures have a ballast inside. A type rating is to operate (2) 48 inch / 40 watt lamps. Newer fluorescent lamps are rated for 32 watts, and these will not work - or will have a greatly reduced life.

If you installed CFL's, the first thing I would do is install regular incandescent lamps and see if it works as expected. If not, something else is wrong - otherwise - make sure you've got the right lamps in the fixture.
