Just bought this tractor from original owner. It ran fine for about 10 hours of use. Tried to start today and it won't turn over. Gas is good. Replaced fuel filter. Still won't turn over. I took the air filter cover off and shot some starting fluid in the throat but still no turn over. What should I be looking for next to trouble shoot this? Engine is Kohler Command, 1-cylinder, OHV
Engine cranks but does not fire on starter fluid.
Likely no spark but could be flooded or no compression. A flooded engine will not fire on starter fluid. Check sparkplug is not saturated with fuel. Check for adequate spark. Check for adequate compression.
If no spark, check magneto kill circuit (safety) is open (no continuity to battery negative). Wiring diagram is available, no fees, at the following website.

The Kholer Command has a Spark Advamce Module that is a common failure. Eliminate safety circuit first.
Testimonial: "Thanks for your post. It doesn't seem to be flooded. Here's what I did: 1) Replaced spark plug and confirmed its sparking by removing it and with boot on, and grounded, turned the key 2) The spark plug wasn't saturated with fuel, though there was some excess motor oil in the threads 3) I replaced two 25 AMP fuses at the wire harness Condition is still the same: cranks but does not turn over, or even hint at turning over. Even with a shot of starter fluid. I don't know how to check compression or what that will tell me."
Check for spark---blown fuse--failed safety switch[s] --wire damage disconnection
