Check if the Internet connection is working by playing an Internet radio station.

Testimonial: "I tried the usb update 2 times, used a different USB stick for the second try. Both were fat32 formatted. Didn't try the network update cause it seemed sketchy to me. Will try it now."

I connected the HDMI 1 input from my tv to the HDMI output on the Yamaha Rx-v673 but i do not get any signal going throught to the tv. when i try put my samsung input source as HDMI 1 the tv prompts me...

To connect a TV you should use the Rx-V773, not the 673.
With the 673 you can use TV only as input, not output.
However there is a firmware update for your receiver. Try it.
