How to balance audio levels with Yamaha RX-V485 receiver, Cable STB and TV audio

I have an Yamaha rx-V485 receiver/amp. I'm using ARC from my Sony Bravia xr65 Android TV port 3 to the 485 HDMI input port. I also have my DirecTV cable stb Model C61K-700 connected via HDMI to the 485 HDMI port 2. We have a huge difference in volume between the Cable input and the TV ARC audio input. When watching HBO, Netflix, Prime, etc from the Sony, the TV audio is much softer. When we switch to cable, the volume is up to a painful level. When we use the Sony remote to adjust volume, we see a line with a ball moving left/right from 0-100 on the TV. At the same time the volume level on the 485 display moves as usual from -NN to +NN. If we use the 485 remote, it only changes the 485 level, and also operates much faster. I'd like to adjust the input level for each input, or otherwise adjust settings so we don't have the sudden change when switching between cable news and a streaming show. Any ideas?

Yamaha amplifier setup screen always shows on wrong tv input (DVD) instead of TV input.

Hello Claude, for what you describe, in your YamaHa when you select the input to listen to the TV, you see DVD, you can change the denomination of the entries
I sent you the link, so you can download the user manual, there, on page 79, you will find the way to change the name, as you wish
I hope you succeed in resolving the issue raised

No HDMI video using RX-V575 Yamaha Receiver with Panasonic TV C-P60ST30

Michael, I still think it is a connection problem. Try disconnecting the HDMI and see if you get the video. If no, it is a connection problem. Check the connections carefully.

No sound on right side speakers on A&B.Sound does work in test mode. Right side Chanel is working, just no sound on right side front in all input modes. I'm a amateur when it comes to stereos.

Go to "menu/Setup/Speaker level" and adjust the balance of L-R.See page 21 of the manual:

Yamaha rx 530 center channel cuts out

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I've tried using the balance for left and right speakers, and when the receiver is acting up with the right speaker having a low volume, I tried moving the balance all the way over to the right speaker. The right speaker volume will not increase in volume but the left speaker will decrease in volume.

Just to clarify, the center and the rear speakers are balanced. The issue only happens sometimes when I first power on the receiver I will have no center channel. If I leave everything alone for a few mins, the center channel will come on.

So it seems to me that something one the receiver is going. The question is, can anyone suggest a physical repair for the receiver for these symptoms?

Thanks

How to connect the PS3 to RX-V365 to get best sound qualitity in films. I have sony BRAVIO LCD wiht PS3 and I recently bought RX-V365 Yamaha home theater system. Please advice on connecting all three to...

You can connect PS3 video via HDMI to receiver and from receiver via HDMI to TV. But RX-V365 doesn't support HDMI audio, so you have to connect audio separately via SPDIF digital cable. I think PS3 uses optical SPDIF, so you will need optical cable. If you can't find cheaps optical cables in your shop, you can try byuing from ebay ($1-5 max.)

Has Direct tv STB HDMI output?
Best is to connect all your sources (BD, DVD, STB, PS3) to yamaha receiver and connect yamaha hdmi-out to TV's HDMI-in.

Hooked up to sony bravia 52" tv and can barely hear sound

You'll want to turn of the TV speakers in the Remote Menu and try turning up the volume level of the TV, which usually controls the level of the RCA outputs, as well
