I would go ahead and open the new set and install them. If you get pressure, you know the others were bad and can send them back for a refund. If there is no change, you can always put them away and use them again later.
Please reply back and let me know how it went. Thanks,
Here is the web page for GE. You will probably have to replace the whole faucet. When you call have the model # available for your system so they can supply the appropriate faucet. You may as well order more filters as they will be less expensive ordering on-line. These filters should really be changed every 6 months. http://products.geappliances.com/ApplProducts/html/GEAResults.htm#Category=Dual_and_Single_Stage_Water_Filtration These faucets are relatively easy to replace for the do it yourselfer. Make sure the water is turned off to system. Open the faucet to system to drain any water and keep the faucet turned on to keep pressure off filter housings. 1.Use the wrench to take housings off. 2. If they still won't budge take a small 2x4 block of wood and hammer, set the block of wood on the RIB for the housing and tap with hammer. 3. Change the o-rings in both housings, lubricate with silicone lube and lubricate the threads on housings with silicone also. 3. Rinse housings with small amount of bleach and clean thoroughly. 4. Replace filters and housings. 5. IMPORTANT: Only tighten housings by hand. NEVER tighten housings with wrench. RJ
This could be caused by several different issues. A faulty switch on the well, bad well tank, bad check valve. If you have a water softener, bypass it to see if pressure loss is through it. That carbon filter will cause even more pressure loss. Turn a cold water faucet on, let the well cycle several times and observe the cut-in and cut-out pressure. Typical well pressure pressure will be 40-60psi. RJ
To replace the filter cartridge. Do the following; 1. Assuming that you have a pump in your water filter system, shut it off. 2 Close the intake valve before your filter system. 3.To relieve the pressure, open the faucet after your filter system. Any of your faucet for that matter. 4.Once the pressure is relieved, you can of course replace the the filter cartridge. the filter cartridge
The red button is a pressure relieve valve. If the system is leaking from the valve, try pushing the valve up from the underside of the cap where the valve is located. If this does not work the housing needs to be replaced. You do not have to replace this with a name brand like GE. All you need to do is make sure the housing that you are purchasing is the same size.
