Pool Heater is constantly clicking but won't ignite Purex Triton MiniMAx 250

We have been heating our outdoor pool flawlessly for years. Two days ago, I heard a constant clicking noise coming from the pool shed. It sounded like someone was trying to ignite a burner on a gas range. It was the heater, so I turned it off. My husband did a bit of quick troubleshooting, but left for work and asked me to research the problem. Thanks in advance for any help. TJ

I was given a purex/triton 400 pool heater
It will not work more than a few minuets. The small tank will not contain enough volume required for the liquid propane to boil off the amount of vapor you need to feed the heater. In fact you are more likely to damage the heater if it does run because it will be a very lean burn.

Make sure the gas valve is set to on and thermostats are set properly. Check the pressure switch and high limits for continuity.Check wires for signs of damage, etc..

sounds like flame sensor is dirty,they rarely go bad.remove and clean with steel wool or fine emory cloth

Purex Triton Minimax 400 pool/spa heater not igniting
This sounds like you have a problem with your pilot. You can check this with a small mirror to see if their is a spark when you turn it on. If you have any soot build up on the pilot that will stop the spark and keep it from lighting also. If you have a short on your pilot wire this could be the problem also.
