My Sony DCR-SX41 has the wrong time stamp on a video I took back in 2020 and says 2009. Is it possible to change that date to the proper one or is it stuck like that?

The video was recorded in 2020, but when I recorded it I must have had the wrong date, as it says 2009. Is it possible to change this date or am I stuck with it now? Can't find this answer anywhere and the manual doesn't help me on editing the date for an already taken video.

No you are stuck with that date. It is encoded and added to the footage in real time.

Time date stamp dcr trv140. I have this model. The date does not show in the view screen or on the audio output. Just wondered if any did on this model. Maybe I have a cheaper model.

From the 'Operating Instructions' manual:
"The recording date and time are not displayed while recording. however, they are recorded automatically onto the tape. To display the
recording date and time, press DATA CODE on the Remote Commander (remote control) during recording."

We are making a sports highlight video. The video came off a Sony Handycam. We viewed the tape using the handycam to reference sports plays to edit using the time/date data in the lower left of the...

I use this information in photography, its caled EXIF Data, and basicaly is the internal information stamp in the pic (date, camera type, focus used, expsure range, etc, etc).

EXIF data on each movie clip recorded is stored in the accompanying .THM file which is a small JPEG thumbnail file of the first frame of the movie.

Force open the *.thm file with photoshop (or simply make a backup copy and change the extension to *.jpg) and read the EXIF via Ctrl+Alt+Shift+I.

I know that the video files also keep this information and could be vewer and modificated; try to check this software and apply it: topshareware.com/sony-camera-exif/downloads

Additional details could find in this site: www.exif.org

Just one last personal recommendation: ALLWAYS, ALLWAYS keep some backup copy about your files.

Good luck.

Need to get rid of date stamp on playback of videos...unfortunately videos have already been recorded...is there a way to turn it off on playback?

Well if you decided to date/time stamp on your films, then that is what it has done for you, just go into setting on menu and turn them off again, that is the default mode.

How is the time/date stamp displayed on a copy

The time/date is 'stamped' onto the video during recording. The time/date stamp function can be turned on or off in the setup menu. If it was 'on' during recording, it will be displayed when played back. If it was turned off, it will not be seen on the recording.
