If not, do you really have to resort to destroying the screw covers? How service centers actually got the covers off must be a locked in a safe. I have seen Stanley knives, thin bladed screw drivers, electrical tape, blue tack and drills suggested. Can you envision a professional sitting around at a bench with ALL of those, trying each in turn. I can't. What do they actually do in service centers? Replace the case? At any rate, is blue tack adhesive actually strong enough to pull off the mylar screw covers on the HP laptops? Electrical tape doesn't work.
Here is my post again, deep under comments

"Remove the bottom cover:
1. Peel the rubber feet off the bottom of the computer (1).
2. Remove the 10 Phillips M2.5×9.0 screws (2) that secure the bottom cover to the computer.
the peel word is never (defined) by HP.
well I use heat, to peel it off
and does, using tiny pen knife.
trade secret IDK> but heat works !
and here are the parts.
HP mostly does not sell most spare parts.(later)
yes upgrade parts, HDD,SSD,DDR but not custom HP parts. the ones nobody else sells..exception here.
here it is, and bingo feet kit at HP.com

2 fears. HP
open and violate the warranty
or open and disturb the new frail thin battery and it leaks acid or explodes.oops.
the price you pay for THIN is this
no more safe easy out batteries ( previous.rugged)
think it out.
they did this to new Cell phone too, no more simple drop out battery, (and huge pain to do now)
they call this progress.

Question moved from Cars and Trucks category.
Try duct tape which is about 4 times stronger than electrical tape which is designed to stick to itself. You could also use a blob of hot glue on a small bolt head which is the treatment used for repairing small dents in cars..
Testimonial: "Thanks. I finally tried a box cutter which after a bit of fiddling did get it off although it was not in mint condition afterwards. Blade tended to slice it. I did try duct tape earlier but whatever adhesive HP uses defied it. Maybe my duct tape was old or not the best quality. I'll certainly give it a go next time. Odd that HP would put mylar covers only on a few screws and not others. Just why the screw to the DVD deserved one, I can't guess."
It does appear that you can buy replacements after doing destructive removal.

I posted the p/n and the link direct to hp.com
above. seen in 3more comments
and how I found that (parts surfer hp)
this person has no experience taking down vast laptop, all this is PAR and others far far worse.
I told him to use a heat gun
and to buy new feet
I posted the service manual page. to the peel line. step, and told him how techs do that and why it is done (keeps out warranty violators)
nothing more here. time to move on.
Thanks Larry, great answers as always.

I use a heat gun pro grade electronics shop grade to peel them a hair dyer works too.
and if the glue survives ( gee hopeless)
is use contact cement sold at walmart, or STAPLES.
the best is automotive grade contact cement
or buy the HP kit above.
, REDUX 1, now that model told. of 1000
It was an HP 17-ar050wm of a friends and I had to replace the battery. He was already mad it couldn't be updated to Windows 11 by standard eligibility. I sadly savaged the mylar cover with a box cutter, no bandaid will heal where I cut it. I was shocked at how hard it was to get the cover off even following the service manual. I had to resort to using a DIME to pry it off. The procedure was very different for my HP 15-da0073wm. Warranty? HP doesn't even sell parts for my Windows 11 compliant model anymore! Fat chance for my friend's model. LOL. I've seen pretty rude comments about mylar screw covers. Thanks, you cleared up a mystery.
ahhhhhhh the battery failed is now told.
that is correct all laptops (not my loved dell e6540_) ????hear at 1 word(peel)
sure

it allowed me to add it to the carts
No idea me the new feet come with glue.
but there it is , in all its glory. new feet.
fly on the all.(pretend)
HP engineer (new guy)whines and cry's, those bottom screw holes are so ugly, lets hide them.
and big wig, eyes gleam. and says
wow saves a million bucks a day owners not doing damage under warranty. (blocked)
dang. (but yah glue sux, )
and vast things made did that ,HP did not invent hiding screws.
in fact some snap apart now and break doing so.(tabs break)
even the TV does that now.
prevent users from drooling inside too(shocked)
Grin ;)
all, that from 1 word ,nebular "PEEL"
Thanks, Larry. The problem with the 17-ar050 was the mylar cover over a screw, rather than the feet. However, you must have a crystal globe. His laptop was missing three of the feet as well! Let's just say it was not designed to come apart easily or retain its feet if probed DIY ways. You have made it pretty clear that HP tech's just slap on new replacements. You don't find that quaint practice mentioned in the service manual. LOL
