Does anyone have any suggestions on how to drain the oil from a DEK CH1 wood chipper with having it run all over the place

Drain plug is located over machine housing so you cannot get a funnel on it. Drain plug is metric, M12 I believe so I can add a pipe nipple

It is no car.
but that is okay
what engine is there ,name and HP

we all been there, for what 50 years, Lawn toys. etc.
tillers, mower and the endless list
the maker of the engine had no idea of where it will be used. ever.
so they guess. then the tool maker don't care,so there is fault 1.
what I do is drain it out any way you can, even unmount the engine then add and extension pipe to the drain and cap the end.

do not assume it is metric, are you USA or not?
of wrong and you cross thread it , DOOMED
what engine is there matters, most , makes name and the model is there on the plate (data plate) tells exact engine
and there are manuals on all engine to find for free googled.
or at makers site like briggs or Koler. or others.
10 years old says the manual dek
Brush Master? this a china made chipper, as IN NO ENGINE NAME, 420cc?
15HP, sure china engine.
if use that will be pure metric end to end.
I can not ask china what that drain plug is, lacking speak Chinese me. I had so scrap all my ,engine to dump and install real briggs.
the parts are H3LL to source. and crude like that recoil thing.
it ,may be m12 ISO straight thread tapered like our NPT.
1.5 pitch.? strait.
taper is 1:16 taper
totally not NPT USA imperial.inches.

in the usa the oil plug is NPT, what china uses, ive not clue at all
but id use all 3 of my thread gauges to measure pitch or TPI
or if not tapered all metric.

    on mine a real briggs
the briggs manual even states how to remote the drain. for all applications!
I guess china is not up to that task yet.
I boycott them now, (every chance I get)
gee you can/t buy parts for it, other than the silly hot line at Harbor FRIGHT(sic-pun)
but we all love Taiwan, (non CCP)

    answer 2,
    you can't (avoid a mess.)
you cant turn it ALL upside down and drain the engine from he filler port. (cap off)
so engine removed is the only clean way, only 2 holes exist fill and drain.

on my machines here like this
we can use huge 2ft wide car or truck oil drain pan.. autostores sell em'

and tilt the machine to the pan and off the drain. done that many a time until the cure,
    engine off and extension pipe.

How to change oil in lowrider

New motorcycle engine oil (as per manufacturer's recommendation)
Oil filter
Wrench or socket set
Oil drain pan
Funnel
Shop rags or towels
Prepare the Motorcycle:
Ensure the motorcycle is on a level surface and turned off.
Allow the engine to cool down if it has been running.
Locate Drain Plug and Oil Filter:
Identify the oil drain plug underneath the motorcycle engine. It might be covered by a skid plate or other protective cover.
Find the oil filter. It's usually located on the side of the engine.
Drain the Old Oil:
Place the oil drain pan underneath the drain plug.
Use a wrench to carefully loosen the drain plug (anticlockwise). Let the old oil drain completely into the pan.
Once drained, re-tighten the drain plug securely.
Replace the Oil Filter:
Use an appropriate tool to remove the old oil filter. Be ready for some additional oil to drain out.
Apply a thin layer of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new oil filter.
Install the new oil filter and tighten it according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Refill with New Oil:
Locate the oil filler cap, usually on the side of the motorcycle's engine.
Use a funnel to pour the recommended amount of new motorcycle engine oil into the oil tank.
Check Oil Level:

Where is the oil drain plug located?

how much is a little and how does anyone confuse a gas filler neck with an oil fill cap, they are in two completely different locations. if you haven't put in more than a cup of gas then it will burn off and not cause a problem therefore you won`t have to do anything but drive it. if its more then the drain plug is on the bottom of the OIL pan and you will or should change the oil and the filter as the gas will be in the filter as well.

I just switched from a Softail Standard to a 2001 Road King Classic (FLHRCI). I need to service the bike but noticed the drain plug for the oil is not located in the same place on the frame as the...

The RK oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. the drain plug is near the center of the oil tank. There is also a transmission drain on the side of the oil pan. Loosen the plug just enough to allow a little oil out to make sure you have the correct plug before you take it completely out. It take three quarts of oil with a filter change.

Where is the thermostat on my 2002 audi a 4 located

Hello,

The thermostat of a 2002 audi a4 is located between the engine and the radiator. The thermostat is small and crucial. It is meant for the vehicles cooling system. It moderates the flow of coolant into the engine by releasing it when the engine need it the most. The thermostat is designed to open its valve once the temperature of the engine reaches about 200 degrees F. Its purpose is to keep the engine running at a consistent temperature, allowing your Audi A4 to operate at peak performance.

If You are planning on replacing the thermostat, here are the steps to follow to replace them, try to get these instruments (Car ramps, 4-by-4 inch wood block, Metric socket wrench set, Socket extension, Pliers, Drain pan, Empty plastic container, Black marker, Towel, Emery cloth, Gasket seal) then follow the steps below:
  1. Raise the front end of your Audi A4 by driving up on a set of car ramps and placing your vehicle in park.
  2. Place a 4-by-4 inch wood block behind one of the rear tires to keep the vehicle from rolling backward.
  3. Use a socket wrench to remove the pan that covers the bottom of the engine.
  4. Locate the red plastic cap that was behind the pan that you just removed. This red cap is your radiator drain plug. Remove the radiator cap from the top of the radiator and then place a drain pan under the red drain plug and turn it with a pair of pliers to allow the coolant to drain completely from the radiator. Once the coolant has completely drained, turn the drain plug to close it off. Be careful when using the pliers on the drain plug that you do not snap the plug off.
  5. Slide under the vehicle and locate the thermostat housing that is sitting just above the oil pan drain plug. Pour the drained coolant from the drain pan into an empty plastic container and label the container so that you do not reuse the expelled coolant. Place the empty drain pan under the thermostat housing before you attempt to remove the housing to allow the coolant from the engine to drain into it.
  6. Remove the 10 mm bolts that hold the thermostat housing on the engine block with a metric socket wrench. Do not lay directly underneath the thermostat housing as the coolant from the engine will begin to drain as soon as you loosen the bolts on the housing. Keep a towel or cloth with you to clean off any spilled coolant .
  7. Remove the thermostat housing from the engine and lift the old thermostat out of the housing. Use a piece of emery cloth to clean the face of the thermostat housing and the engine block where the housing is mounted from any remaining gasket material or debris.
  8. Spread a layer of gasket seal around the face of the thermostat housing and place the new thermostat on the housing, with the thermostat spring facing out from the housing. Position the housing back on the engine block and secure it to the block with the bolts.
  9. Replace the pan the sits across the bottom of the engine of your Audi A4 and then refill the radiator with coolant and put the radiator cap back on the radiator. Remove the wood block from the back tire of your vehicle. Turn the engine on and drive the Audi A4 off of the car ramps. Allow the engine to run at idle for a few minutes to verify that the thermostat is working properly and then shut the engine off.
Hope this helped. Thank You for using FixYa!!!

How to change engine oil?

You can't see it from the top because the oil pan and drain plug are on the bottom of the engine. You will probably have to jack up the car in order to crawl underneathand reach the drain plug.

You should change the oil when the car is cold, otherwise you'll end up with hot oil spilling onto your hands. You'll also need a pan that holds 2 gal of liquid and place it under the car beneath the drain plug.

Remove the plug, drain the oil, replace the plug. Remove and replace trhe filter. then refill with oil. Do not over fill
