caps wont go bad in a 2 year old TV. You probably have a shorted LED in the backlight. I would start there.

There is a capacitor that often fails.. it round and contains a thermal sensor.

Capacitors, capacitors and capacitors. I can't stress that enough. Common issue with these samsungs. Check those capacitors before changing any board.

If there is a bad capacitor in the power supply, you will either get one of two symptons.

1 - Solid red Led and thats it. You hit the power button and nothing will respond.

2 - You just hear a click repeatedly.

Philips TVs tend to have issues with bad capacitors in their power supplies. Failing capacitors tend to have slightly different ESR (equivalent series resistance) values when they have been left off, versus after they are warmed up and charged up. Either a new power supply board or replacement of the faulty capacitors will fix the problem.
