The manual is not available on Bernina's web site. So far, the only thing I've found is the Bernina Owner's Workbook (for several Berninas including the Virtuosa) that may be helpful:
You may also try checking out some Yahoo Bernina Groups. You'll need a Yahoo email account, then search the Bernina Groups, and request admission. From there, you can post your questions as well as view the various documents that have been stored. Some groups have great manual libraries and very knowledgeable, helpful individuals.
The machine Knows the foot number buy the small glass part of the foot just on the upper right side of the foot. Check to see if that is not damaged and clean. Also check the sensor on the machine just above the foot for not damage and clean. If that is good make sure your foot is paralel with the stitch plate. Do this buy putting a single hole foot on your machine and make sure the needle is right in the center. If this does not work you will need to take it in. May be a bad sensor or unpulged but that is rare.
Also not all bernina feed have this foot sensor, if this is the case it will not read it
hope this helps
Is this the top thread or your bobbin thread? The technician should have pulled out the tension disk assembly and cleaned it, not just spray more lubricant/cleaner on it. Is this a Bernina certified shop?! Take it back and get him to do it again right, it sounds like carbon/dirt build up in the disks. Have him pull the assembly apart and make sure it's not something else wrong with the disks themselves like oxidization etc.
If it's your bobbin thread.. your bobbin case is just dirty and the spring needs to be cleaned.
The thread doesn't really touch any other parts of the machine, hopefully your technician isn't using grease as this just causes more headaches for attracting more lint and then dirt.
If your stitches are tiny more than likely the feeddogs are not working correctly. More often than not its because the pivot points for the feeddog mechanism inside are gummed up,dirty and oily and they need to be cleaned. Your machine is in need of service. Does not really have anything to do with presser foot pressure especially if you have tried adjusting that to no availe.
It needs servicing.
