My 830 Bernina won't stop if it's plugged in?

My old sewing machine started going all by itself and now won't stop. I had to pull the plug out to stop it. As soon as I plug it back in it goes without me doing anything. The foot pedal doesn't affect it and can even unplug that and it's still going. Am hoping it's something simple!?? Any advice welcome please.

First, Don't run the machine until you get it repaired. Running it could burn out the actual sewing machine costing you a lot more money in repairs. This problem could be that the mechanism inside the pedal is stuck in the down position. Most sewing machine pedals can be removed. Sit with the back of sewing machine nearest to you, as if your using it from the wrong side. The block connector for the pedal should be next to your left hand. Pull the connector block towards you. It might be tight so may need a reasonable amount of force to get it out. If you take it to a sewing machine specialist they may be able to service or repair it.

How to remove the top cover of Bernina 830. My machine keeps telling me to rethread. It stitches about 10 stitches then stops

Which Bernina 830 are you referring to? (Yeah, it was crazy of Bernina to use the same numbers to identify different models...). There is the old Bernina 830 Record and the new computerized Bernina 830.

Have you tried rethreading the machine? If so, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot. Verify the thread path is correct.

My Bernina 830 sewing machine makes initial starting noises but does not come on, anything I can check? I've already unplugged and plugged it back in.

Assuming it is an 830 Record (old mechanical, not the new computerized model). If it sounds like the motor is straining but the machine's mechanics are not working, then the machine has most likely seized from old, dried up oil.

This is the method I've used on multiple seized machines and works:
Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

This is the oil port diagram for the 830 Record.

I cant get my stitch Width Zig zag knob to turn om my bernina record 930. Any one have this problem?

Most likely because your machine has not been serviced (oiled & cleaned) in a long time and the old oil has turned to glue and seized. This is probably the most common problem with mechanical sewing machines. A mechanical sewing machine should be regularly maintained..ie every 40 hours of sewing use or at least every six months when not in use. You may want to take it to a Bernina service technician. Ask for a bottle of Bernina oil for CB hook machines and ask if they will show you how to oil it.

I have and old Bernina 830 and am trying to adapt a new foot pedal switch. The new plug is larger where it fits the machine. Is the wiring the same on the new bernina foot switch as the old? If so, I can...

unless the new harness and control is for a new style computerized machine the control should be the same, the different size plug is baffling me
