Kenmore Ultra Wash 665.1359 when I try to turn off HEATED DRY it locks the dishwasher and it won't work.
I have learned not to press for too long 4 seconds but is there a best time or trick to turning off the HEATED DRY? I don't really need it and it is used in every cycle except Quick Rinse. Thank you.

Look carefully at your dishwasher keyboard, to see what key is nearest (above or below) the lighted lock symbol. Usually it's the Heated Dry button. Whatever it is, press and hold that key for 5 seconds. That should unlock you dishwasher and you can now use it normally.
Try unplugging or turning off at ciurcut breaker and make sure someone stayas at the dishwasher to be sure the breaker is corredt . the light should go out when breker is turned off then plug back in that will reset the CPU
that would be model # 66516012403 correct?? you may have inadvertently set the lock on function.. check this out from your manual...
Lock On Use the Lock On to prevent unintended use of the dishwasher between cycles. You can also use the lock feature to prevent unintended cycle or option changes during a cycle. When LOCK ON is lit, all buttons are disabled. NOTE: The dishwasher door can be opened while the controls are locked. However, the lock must be turned off and the Start/ Resume button pressed to resume the cycle. To turn on the Lock Press and hold HEATED DRY for 4 seconds. LOCK ON glows. If you press any pad while your dishwasher is locked, the light flashes 3 times. NOTE: If the Heated Dry option is selected, the light will temporarily turn off until Lock On glows. To turn off the Lock Press and hold HEATED DRY for 4 seconds. The light turns off.
have you ever seen green led "Clean" light flashing? before or about the same time the buzzing sound started? and if so that would indicate that the control senses a fault in the temperature rise during the heating cycle and that the electronic control could be reset by initiating a service diagnostic cycle.(which is what you were trying to do) pls reread your manual there are times during that sequence that some buttons have to be pushed at the same time and within a certain amount of time..possible that your machine also has a bad timer which would give you a buzzing noise..if thats the case I would recommend replacing the cpu or control board..or the machin all together..The Kenmore Ultra Wash Quiet Guard name is sears but whirpool has the contract to produce all "kenmore products.hope that helps.
Hold down the "HEATED DRY" button for 4 seconds to unlock. Try to press these botton in sequence,Heated Wash, Heated Dry, Heated Wash, Heated Dry.release your hand, the unit will go into diagnostic mode. that is all leds will ON for a few seconds, and start normal operations.
If that does not work, you might need to check the electronic control board if the ribbon is seated properly.
Finally solution, is to change the electronic control board.
call sears, 1-800-4MY-HOME. They have a trouble-shooting department that will get rid of this problem. It is caused by water temperature being wrong at the start of the cycle.... blah, blah, blah. The representative will tell you to push a certain set of buttons in a certain order and that unlocks the dishwasher.
Puppa, clear the fault by pressing the keys in this order: high temp scrb--air dry--high temp scrub--air dry. Or, depending on your model..Sani rinse--air dry--sani rinse--air dry. The dishwasher will enter the service mode. Let it do it's thing or advance it through it by pressing the start key. The fault came from the board not sensing a rise in the water temp. Make sure to run the hot water before starting the dishwasher. The heating element runs through the nuetral side of the door switch so make sure the d/w is level and the door switches are all making. The element itself could be at fault. Catriver...post back
