Have photos of infrared burner burning and off. Yellow/Orange flames leaping from top of burner. Can I use a smaller orifice? The ceramic burner is in great shape - not cracked. Lynx Sedona L500PSR-LP 30 model - 9 years old.
That is a nice unit.

The yellow flame indicates you have too much gas and not enough air. Just past the gas jet there is a tube called a 'Venturi', and you will often find they are partially blocked with spider nests. You can buy a special brush to clean them out. There is also an adjustment on them to add more air. Finally somewhere on the gas control valve there is a screw to adjust to amount of gas coming through. Normally you adjust on the lowest setting to establish a Low steady blue flame that is stable and doesn't blow out or 'pop' and go out.

Testimonial: "Thank you. Very helpful. Any idea where I might find the venturi brush or what it might be called? The venturi does not have any adjustment baffle, etc. Mine does not seem to have spider nests but I can't be absolute certain of that. I am familiar with the adjustment screws on many gas valves but the rotisserie valve does not appear to have one. I will query Lynx on this. Does any one know for sure? Thank you again. This helps!"
