Out of the blue failed or bought car used ,and radio dead. now.
factory radio or after market
the factory cars radio has fuse in the cab box marked radio
open the glove box
pull you operators guide
turn chapter fuses.
read the words there, and bingo radio
the radio is bad,
CD works proves fuse is good.
the lights on a radio work of cars parking lamps and the cards cluster light dimmer and that has its own fuse and is good too.
the radio has lamps inside that are dead, (non LED )
time for an new radio for sure. an 18 year run is good.
that hot spot is not good, keep radio off, so no fire inside it.
the fuse must be the right 15 amps, or fail that will.
i am looking at the stock car radio service manual whole car.

quote (I/P means instrument panel)
The radio receives power from the RADIO fuse in the junction block-right I/P

this radio may (some do) have a theft deterrent lock out.
i guess it will telly it is locked out if is.
qoute
Radio theft lock is diagnosed as a stand-alone system.

quote #3
"
The "Theftlock" theft deterrent system is a feature on all base and uplevel radios. There is no need to program a security code into the radio as in past model years. The theft deterrent system now utilizes class?2 serial data to determine if the radio is in the appropriate vehicle. Each time the radio receives the "run" power mode message, it compares the VIN information it has stored to the VIN information received from a module on the class?2 serial data circuit responsible for transmitting that information. If a mis-match occurs, the radio display will indicate to the user the radio is locked. Once this takes place, a DTC will set, the radio will not respond to any button presses and become inoperative. The two scenarios able to cause this condition are:

  • A radio is installed from another vehicle.
  • A module which communicates on the class?2 serial data circuit which supplies VIN information to the radio is replaced and not properly setup with the correct VIN information for that vehicle.
The only way to unlock the radio is by using a scan tool. Always refer to the table in this section to diagnose the "Theftlock" DTC for further information."

Lost sound on 2005 impala. radio works. seems like amp problem.

Do you have base or up;level system ?

Table 1: Radio Features
Table 2: Cassette Features
Table 3: Compact Disc Features
Table 4: XM Advisory Messages
The radio receives power from the RADIO fuse in the junction block-right I/P. Ground is provided via G201 and G202. The radio is enabled/disabled by class 2 messages from the body control module (BCM). The radio routes audio signals from the digital radio receiver or the vehicle communication interface module (VCIM) to the speakers and/or amplifier when directed by class 2 messages.
The Entertainment System on this vehicle is configured with an AM/FM stereo radio with the radio data system (RDS) and either a cassette player or a CD player or both. CD and cassette. The uplevel system provides the customer with extended range speakers and an audio amplifier. Satellite digital radio (U2K) is available with uplevel systems.
The following list shows the radios available for this vehicle:
• Radio (ULO) - AM/FM Stereo, Cassette with RDS
• Radio (UNO) - AM/FM Stereo, CD and RDS
• Radio (UPO) - AM/FM Stereo, Cassette with CD and RDS .The complexity of the radio systems on these vehicle is mind blowing .

Your best bet take it to a GM dealer , has features you are unawear of .
DTC B1025, B1035, B1045, or B1055
When the radio is powered up, the radio supplies low level audio signals to the speakers. If the vehicle is equipped with an audio amplifier, the amplifier will boost the signal sent to the speakers.
DTC B1025 Audio Output Circuit
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With the scan tool, monitor the DTC Information for DTC B1025.
Does the scan tool indicate that DTC B1025 is current?

Tape stuck in player - error code e13 shows

I just got a tape unstuck myself. Everytime I would hit eject it would make a clicking noise.

Here is what I did:
First I watched these videos to remove the radio.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29MTa4FLjtk&feature=channel

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqvk_PNo9Kg&feature=channel

Then I unscrewed the bottom panel of the radio.
Unscrew the brass screws holding in the cassette player portion of the radio.
Now flip the cassette player over to see your tape, etc.
When I pressed the eject button, I noticed a little motor with a worm gear would move a a gear which moved several other gears until it eventually moved a black gear which has a little post that moves the metal arm which moves back when pushing in a tape and moves forward when ejecting a tape. But I would get a clicking sound which seemed to be due to one gear trying to move a stuck gear.
I forgot the exact details of how I managed to get the tape out, but when I did get it out I noticed when I turned on the radio, it would act like it was trying to play a tape. But when it found out it couldn't, it would try to eject but would fail once again with the gear clicking sound.
I think I tried moving the black post on the black gear that moves the arm that pushes the tape out. Eventually I got to the point where the arm was pushed forward like it should be when a tape is ejected. At that point I was able to insert and eject a tape without any problems.

My radio on my82 honda goldwing dont have sound

There are several possibilities. First, if the clock and cassette door are affected, it is a low voltage feed issue.. bad connectors, corroded terminals, etc. This voltage feed is from the 5 amp fuse in the very bottom of the relay box to the right of the main fuse block (i.e. not in the main fuse box).. clean check this fuse... If the low volume is FM only, it is internal to the radio.. in this case, another symptom is that the search/seek feature never locks on a station.. Typically this is a problem with a component on the board.. only place I know that works on them is Sierra Electronics in Troy Ohio, but others probably exist..

I have XM radio hooked to cassette player adapter in my car. The new adapter keeps sounding like it is rewinding. XM plays for 30 seconds and then ''rewinds'' again, over and over.

Unfortunately your tape play has the auto reverse feature. It is detecting that the tape is not turning via a reel counter. Sensing no movement ( as you have an audio adaptor inserted rather than a real tape) it is trying to switch to the other side of the tape.
Not very much you can do.
You could purchase an FM modulator and basically re-transmit the Xm over an un-used frequency on the FM band to slve your problem
