How to use Amazon Alexa App?

How to use Amazon Alexa App?

Amazon's artificial intelligence-powered voice assistant, Alexa, is spreading like wildfire and we're seeing more and more useful Alexa skills roll out every day. It's in robots, vacuum cleaners, and the thousands of third-party apps that tap Alexa for voice recognition. It's also starting to make its way onto phones. While voice search features were once limited to a few flagship phones, Amazon recently announced the Alexa app has been updated to bring these features to all Android devices.
We're going to start by taking a look at how to use the Alexa app on any smartphone, then on the next page, we'll dig into the extra steps required to get Alexa working as a voice-controlled assistant on the HTC U11 or Huawei Mate 9 and explain what it can and can't do.
How to configure Alexa on your Android or iPhone

You can personalize the way that Alexa works on all of your supported devices (including the U11 or Mate 9) by installing Amazon's dedicated Alexa app via the Google Play Store. You can download the app for iPhone as well in the App Store, however, voice search features are not available; Amazon says it plans to add the feature in the near future.
If you've never used an Alexa-enabled device before, it's worth taking a few minutes to customize things to your liking. Tap the three-line menu icon in the top-left corner of the app to access the following:
§Music, video, and books: Sign into the services you want the Alexa app to use, but note that music services currently don't work on the Huawei Mate 9 and HTC U11.
§Lists: Here's where you'll see items you've added (via voice command) to your Amazon shopping and to-do list from the Alexa app.
§All Skills: Here's where you can browse, enable, and manage the thousands of third-party apps that extend Alexa's functionality. See which ones you've installed by tapping the My skills button in the top-right corner of the screen.
§Smart Home: This menu lets you configure smart home devices you can control with the Alexa app, including smart bulbs, TVs, security cameras, and more. Tap Discover to find and set up new devices, and then organize them into Groups and Scenes to suit your tastes.

You can also tap the three-line menuicon, and select Settings to review your various Alexa-enabled devices, set names for them, locations, time zones, and even choose your preference for temperature and distance measurement units.
While the latest Alexa app update brings voice search capabilities to all Android devices, you still need to press the microphone icon to use the feature. Currently, only the HTC U11, Huawei Mate 9, and Moto X4 allow you to use voice search hands-free.
Alexa on the HTC U11 and Huawei Mate 9
The Mate 9 was the first phone to ship with native Alexa support, but the HTC U11 was first to allow hands-free Alexa commands - you can say, "Alexa," followed by a command even when the phone's screen is off. In many ways, Alexa on the Mate 9 and U11 behaves just like Alexa on Amazon's Echo speakers, but the apps can't do everything the retailer's Echo speakers can do.
How to set up Alexa on the HTC U11
Julian Chokkattu/Digital Trends
Julian Chokkattu/Digital Trends
Ready to install Alexa on the HTC U11? Here's how to get started.
First, check to make sure you have the latest system firmware by tapping Settings > System Update (look for1.13.651.6 or later for the Sprint model and 1.16.617.6 or later for the U.S. unlocked model).
Next, follow these three steps:
1.First, you'll need to download the HTC Alexa app from the Play Store.
2.Open the app and enter your Amazon account credentials (or set up an account if you don't already have one).
3.Accept the prompt to grant the app location access. Then tap Next and Finish.
Once you've finished setting up the HTC Alexa app, you're ready to tailor it to your preferences. Tap on the gear icon to tweak things like the default language (German, British English, or American English) current Amazon account, and to configure Alexa's quick launchoptions.
There are two ways to launch Alexa on the U11:
§Sound trigger launches the Alexa app when you say, "Alexa". You can also tick Enable sound trigger when screen is off to activate Alexa with a voice command even when your phone is locked.
§Edge Sense allows you to trigger Alexa by squeezing and holding the U11's lower edges. You can also head to Settings > Edge Sense and set Alexa to trigger with a short squeeze if you prefer.
How to set up Alexa on the Huawei Mate 9

Setting up Alexa on the Mate 9 is a cinch once you have the latest firmware. To check, tap Settings > System Update (you want version MHA-L29C567B183 or newer).
Next, follow these steps:
1.Open the preinstalled Huawei Alexa app and enter your Amazon account credentials (or set up an account if don't have one).
2.Read and accept the Terms of Service agreement.
The Huawei Alexa app doesn't offer much in the way of customization. But Quick Start lets you launch Alexa by making a gesture with your knuckle on the Mate 9's screen, and the language selector lets you switch between one of three supported languages (German, British English, and English). You'll also see an option to sign in with another Amazon account.
Unfortunately, every time you want to use Alexa on the Mate 9, you have to open the Alexa app. Unlike Apple's Siri on iOS devices, Google Assistant on Android devices, and Alexa on the HTC U11, there isn't a hands-free way to interact with Amazon's assistant on Huawei's phone - you have to open the app and tap on the bright blue microphone icon before you begin talking every time.
What you can and can't do with Alexa on the U11 and Mate 9
In many ways, Alexa on the Mate 9 and HTC U11 feels like a natural extension of Amazon's assistant. The Alexa app can tell the time in any country, deliver a weather report, or provide a daily sports and news summary from NPR, CNN, the Associated Press, and more.
Here are a few example commands that Alexa supports:
§"Alexa, what's the time?"
§"Alexa, flip a coin."
§"Alexa, 10 dollars to pounds."
§"Alexa, 15 times 32."
§"Alexa, how's the weather outside today?"
§"Alexa, set a timer [X] minutes."
§"Alexa, add milk to my shopping list."
§"Alexa, what's on my calendar?"
§"Alexa, start a seven-minute workout."
§"Alexa, tell a bedtime story to [your child's name here]."
The Alexa app is fully compatible with Amazon's Kindle and Audible services. If you ask it, "Alexa, read my Kindle book," you'll hear an audiobook recording (or text-to-speech transcription) of the most recent addition to your Amazon library. Asking, "Alexa, read my audiobook" prompts the assistant to start or resume any audiobook you've purchased from Audible. And you can, as you might expect, play different titles, skip and restart chapters, or go back to specific chapters.
The Alexa app can also control smart home devices and connected cars. If you have a Philips Hue or Samsung SmartThings devices, for example, you can tell Alexa to switch on lights, change TV channels, and more. Hyundai's Blue Link platform lets you remotely start vehicles, change the interior temperature, and turn on the horn. (Here's a list of all the supported Internet of Things devices for Alexa.)
Alexa is tightly integrated with Amazon's shopping platform. You can place an order for anything on Amazon Prime, including Amazon Fresh groceries, Amazon Prime Pantry non-perishables, and Amazon Prime Now 2-hour delivery items. You can say, "Alexa where's my stuff?" to get tracking information on packages, and take advantage of the Alexa-exclusive deals that run throughout the year.
With the Alexa app, you get access to Amazon's collection of skills, or apps, that tap the assistant's voice recognition. Particularly useful ones include the My Chef app, which can read recipes, send shopping lists, and track expiration dates. Uber and Lyft's apps can summon rides to your approximate location; Fitbit's app can tell you how many steps you've taken; the Capital One app details your bank balance; and apps from Dominos, Pizza Hut, and Grubhub allow you to get food delivered.
Update: Story updated to reflect new voice search feature in Android app.

How do l set up my new echo with alexa

Follow link it will give you idea for same
How to set up an Amazon Echo Got a new Amazon Echo? Here's how to set it up start asking Alexa to tell you jokes. STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE ALEXA APP The free Alexa app is a must-have if you're the owner of an Amazon Echo. You'll need it to get your Echo device set up. Download it on any smartphone or tablet with iOS 9.0 or higher, Android 5.0 or higher, or Fire OS 3.0 or higher. Simply open up the app store that comes with your device and search "Alexa app." Downloading the app on a computer? Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi, then visit the Amazon Alexa websiteto download it.
STEP 2: PLUG IN THE ECHO This is probably the easiest step in the whole set-up process, as the Echo doesn't require any batteries in order to function. Simply plug the included power adapter directly into the Echo, then hook it up to a power outlet. When the light ring turns blue, that means the power is connected. Then, wait for it to turn orange, as this is a sign that Alexa is preparing to greet you. When that is done, you'll hear Alexa's voice telling you the device is ready for set-up.
STEP 3: CONNECT THE ECHO TO WI-FI VIA THE APP Next, you'll need to connect your Echo device to your home Wi-Fi network. The latest versions of the Echo should guide you through this process. However, if you get stuck, simply open up the Alexa app and search through the available networks until you find yours. If you have multiple Echo devices, make sure you go to Alexa Devices in the menu and choose the right device. Under the Wireless heading, you should be able to see the state of the Wi-Fi network connection.
Once you're connected, you have the option of saving your Wi-Fi password to Amazon, which makes it easy to connect to smart home devices or set up a new Alexa device on the same network - should you decide to purchase more Echoes for other rooms. You also have the choice of connecting your Echo to a public network, although the password won't be saved on Amazon.
STEP 4: START TALKING TO ALEXA To get started, say the wake word, which by default is "Alexa." But maybe there's already a human Alexa in the house and you want to change the wake word to something else? Simply tell the Echo, "Alexa, change the wake word." You can also change the wake word manually by opening up the Alexa app, tapping help and feedback, and selecting change the wake word. Currently, you can change the Echo to respond to "Echo," "Amazon," and "Computer." No word on when Amazon will allow you to customize Alexa so you can call her "Mr. T," "Honey Bunny," or "Jelly McJerkface."
STEP 5: START USING YOUR ECHO Congratulations, your Amazon Echo is all set up and ready to be used in your day-to-day life. To make sure everything's working properly, you can conduct a simple test by trying out a few basic commands. For example, say the wake word and "Hello." If your Echo is properly set up, Alexa should respond with a simple "Hello" in return.
But the Echo can do much more than greet you. In the Alexa app menu, you will see two sections called Skills & Games and Things to Try. These are both excellent ways to see what Alexa is capable of. Skills in particular can help you customize Alexa by giving her certain abilities-think of them as mini-apps from many different creators that you can use for entertainment, organization, news, and much more.
You can start using your Echo device to make to-do lists, find out the weather, check on traffic conditions, call your friends, send text messages to your family, stream podcasts, or connect smart home devices. Alexa has thousands of essential and not-so-essential skills you can add, too. Check out some of the most useful things that the Amazon Echo can help you do.
OPTIONAL STEP 6: CONNECT SMART HOME DEVICES OR AN EXTERNAL SPEAKER Head to your Alexa app menu, and select Smart Home (Alexa may show you an ad at this point, which you can exit out of). In this mode, Alexa will try to find any nearby and connected smart devices so you can pair them up. You can also choose to Add Device if Alexa is having trouble locating the device you have in mind. You can also organize devices into Groups here, and create more complex Scenes where multiple devices interact at once. Check out our post on Routines for more information.
The Amazon Echo can play also play music, and the sound quality has only improved with the second generation model. To ensure you're getting a top-notch listening experience when you jam out to music or listen to audiobooks, you have the option of hooking up an external speaker to your Echo device. For best results, get a Bluetooth speaker that's certified to be compatible with Echo devices. Keep in mind that your Echo can only connect to one Bluetooth device at a time, so if there's already unit already connected to your Echo, you'll need to un-sync them before you can connect your external speaker.

How do i get hulu on my smart tv?

Hi Sue,

Smart TVs come with a selection of built in applications such as Netflix, Pandora, Facebook, Hulu, etc. In order to view Huku programming you'll need to have your TV connected to the internet either via WiFi or a physical cable plugged into the network jack (if so equipped) on your TV. Once you've successfully set that up, you need to check the TV to determine *IF* they have provided Hulu connectivity inside the TV.

If Hulu does not appear as an application, you may not be able to view Hulu programs without additional work / expense or both. You should check to see if your TV accepts "updates" or "firmware updates" and if so, follow the instructions on how to obtain and install them. Most will simply download and install automatically via WiFi or network cable - yours may or may not. Check the manual if unsure. If it does accept updates - it may include Hulu connectivity - and you can skip ahead.

If it does not - your TV manufacturer may not have reached an agreement with Hulu to offer their programming - yet. Check back form time to time to see if an update addresses this for you. If you don't feel like waiting for an update that *may* provide Hulu access, you can purchase an external device such as Roku or Chromecast (there are probably others, too) to provide access right away. Check all available devices to see which services / apps they provide - not all devices support all apps. Once you have a device capable and successfully installed or otherwise have an option for Hulu on your TV screen you can move on.

Next, activate a new Hulu subscription on the TV by following the instructions on the screen. Some hardware may require that you complete a registration before you can do that - so follow the instructions of the hardware first if needed. If you already have an account, you may use your existing Hulu login credentials to log in as opposed to creating an new / additional account - unless you want to take advantage of some of the free 30 day trials offered by many of the applications for "new" users.

Hopefully, you'll be watching in no time! Good luck!
