    Hi Eric....

well I don't really know for sure about that?...Either way .I'm No Electronics Tech..

(WISH I WAS THO!.. I could fix all the Old Electronic stuff I've Bought over the Years, thats in The closets, that I WON'T Throw Away... thinking I'll get'em fixed One of these days, if I ever find anybody that I can TRUST that Honestly Can Fix Them Right & Correctly.. Locally, Or Even Myself Out of getting Extremely lucky)

Anyways my OLD BC760xlt .. appears to be scanning when I push the police, fire/emergency, or air ...

as long as I have the squelch set up at about 1pm - 12 noon ..

like i say I have no Volume Audio Whatsoever Anywhere.. even with the External speaker plugged in the speaker, or i even tried the record Jack.. still don't get any audio whatsoever..

I did find some information somewhere online that somebody said that they were replacing audio chips/ic's in a few BC760xlt's that Sombody brought/sent to him to fix. .. now I don't know if that's MY Problem,..

or like you say there may be something else like a "cap" that has Dried out sitting in the way that's Not giving Any juice to operate a Particular part of the board 100% like it's supposed to ..

I Did Finally Open it up and looked around but could not see anything burnt up.. I didn't mess with anything, but I took some pictures to get the chip numbers ...

Probably has some leaky capacitors that stop it from working and just shows a display without tuning at all.

I have a Uniden bc95xlt scanner! it is less than 1 yr. old. it will lock on to a channel and not unlock to continue scanning. I can't find my paperwork to prove age of scanner! Pls. Help!

Hi Jan,

It sounds to me as if your scanner is locking on to a 'BIRDIE', which is an internally generated frequency in the scanner, all scanners have this by default, your user manual usually has a page, near the back of the manual, with known 'birdies', and there a lots.

When your scanner locks onto a 'BIRDIE', which is a frequency with no voice audio, the best thing to do is press Lockout button, during the scan, your scanner will, if there is no other problem with it, continue to scan, until it finds another 'BIRDIE', then you do the same thing as I've described, until you've locked out all the 'BIRDIES'.

I hope this info was useful.

Cheers,
Peter.

Bc898t all 500 channels are locked out. How to unlock all of them

Locking/Unlocking Banks When you are scanning conventional banks, the scanner displays the digit corresponding to all unlocked banks. To lock out a bank so that the scanner does not scan its channels, press the letter that corresponds to the bank. The bank's letter disappears from the display. To unlock locked-out banks, simply press that bank's letter again. The bank's letter appears on the display and the scanner includes that bank when scanning. Note: You cannot lock out all banks. One bank must be unlocked at all times. Locking/Unlocking Channels To lock out a channel so that the scanner does not stop on it while scanning, press L/O when the scanner is stopped on that channel, or manually select the channel and press L/O. To unlock the channel, manually select it and press L/O again.

Hello, my BC246T scanner has no sound, but it stops on different frequencies. I took the back off and try , checking the circuit boads, but did not solve sound problem. Is there anything else I can try. I...

Sorry, but the only mute function is in the external speaker and headphone jacks. Plugging into either one will mute/disconnect the internal speaker. Your scanner is about six years old, so it's possible that the speaker has quit working or that you have a problem with the audio amp. Try connecting either headphones or an external speaker to the appropriate jack. If you get audio through either one then chances are that you internal speaker is shot. No audio at all indicates a circuit problem that needs professional help. You local Radio Shack store can help with either problem. If they don't have the proper speaker in stock they can order one for you, and they can also arrange quality repair of your scanner. CAUTION: If you go the repair route, be sure to get a firm price, not just an estimate before you commit. Repairs can approach or exceed the cost of a comparable new scanner. Good luck and happy scanning.

Why does the uniden bearcat 210LXT have low volume. When turned full blast you can hardly hear it. Is there something we can do?

Your scanner is about 30 years old, so the electronics are old and tired. The problem could be in the audio circuit, the volume "pot' control, or the speaker, but bear in mind that repairing this veteran will likely exceed the cost of a comparable new scanner. Depending on what the actual problem is, connecting an external speaker or headsets to the external speaker jack on the back of the scanner may extend its life.

Bc760xlt how to poot the numbers in

Don't poot them, just program them.

The manual for your scanner - which contains detailed programming instructions - is very difficult to find, but I have a pdf copy saved. I cannot attach the document on this site, but I will forward it if you email me direct with a request.

Uniden bc145xl police scanner NO SOUND

It sounds like you have smoked the audio amplifier. It is an 8 pin IC marked "IC2" on the circuit board where it is mounted. You may also be able to see "TBA820M" stamped on the case of the IC itself. Since you said that smoke was visible from the speaker jack, it will likely be obvious which component it is once you open the scanner.

Unfortunately this scanner has no internal or external fuses.

If this does not work, go to www.mods.dk, as they have a downloadable schematic and troubleshooting manual for this model. The site does require a free registration, but does not spam or sell your address. I have downloaded several manuals from them over the years, and all were extremely helpful.

The link to the file you need is

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Can not here my scanner when you first turn it on it works for a minute then keeps scanning but you can not here anything

Have you checked the programming of the frequencies? Have you adjusted the squelch? Plug in an external speaker in to the rear jack and see if there is audio there.

Bearcat BC144XL Scanner ~ no sound

Try it with an external speaker. The external speaker jack receives the audio from the scanner before it goes to the internal speaker. If the jack thinks there is still something plugged into it, the audio to the internal speaker is interrupted. If the jack is stuck, it may still work with an external speaker.
