How to restore Vizio sv472xvt remote to factory default settings

I know this is obvious, but make sure you press TV on the remote and then hit the menu button. It should still access the tv menu as long as there’s a menu button on the remote the remote is in fact the original Vizio Remote Control that goes to that particular TV.

Also, you can remove the batteries from the remote, then use a wire or anything that conducts electricity to touch the positive and negative terminals together- these are the spring type and/or flat components that the batteries actually touch. Hold a piece of wire to each side, (+) and (-), at the same time and this too can get rid of stored data on some remote models. Aluminum Foil works well instead of a spare wire if you don’t have one within reach.

I hope this helps, along with the other great answer already posted.

      • If the TV powers off when you press the POWER button on the remote control turn the TV back on continue to Step 4.
      • If the TV does not powers off then there is a problem with the remote control. Click here to go to the Remote Control troubleshooting section of this guide.
    1. Press the POWER button on the TV.
      • If the TV powers off with the remote but does not power off with the power button on the TV there could be an issue with the touch sensor on the TV. Before setting your unit up for service try these two things.
        1. Try sliding your finger accross the power button.
        2. Have other people try using the touch buttons on the TV.
        3. If either of these two options work then there is not an issue with the touch sensor on the TV. There are many variable that can limit the conductivity of a persons fingers. The conductivity of your fingers might not be enough to easily control the touch sensor on the TV.

Directv remote and LG remote will not control tv, just receiver

Let's start simple first. Your TV is not responding to either remote control, but specifically if your factory original LG remote does not operate the LG TV, then the problem could be with the IR receiver in the TV itself.

Ensure nothing is blocking the IR receiver on the TV. Move anything out of the way.

Test both remotes to ensure that they are sending an infrared IR signal to the TV. Use a digital camera (such as the one on your phone) and point the remote into the camera lense and press the power/volume/channel buttons. You should see a faint flashing light in your camera viewfinder. This indicates that the remote is sending IR signal. If you don't see anything, then there is no signal. Try FRESH batteries.

If your remotes are working, and since this is an LG, look at the back of the TV by the video inputs. Look for a port called "REMOTE CONTROL IN" or similar. It looks like a 3.5mm headphone jack. This port is used for external remote control and may be dirty.

UNPLUG the TV, then use a regular 3.5mm male headphone jack to plug in and out several times. You basically want to push all the way in and all the way out several times to dislodge any dust and remove any oxidation that has built up in the port. 10-15 times should do fine.

Then plug in the TV and try your remote.

Best of luck.

My LG 42LV4400 has a red light in the bottom left corner but it will not turn on.

hello!
2 month and already quit? OK: first thing to do is to unplug TV off the power strip or wall outlet. Wait for a few minutes and plug the set back into the power source. Try to turn on the set manually, by touching sensors or buttons on control panel. some TVs have push buttons, some touch sensors. If your TV was set to "auto power on" mode, then don't touch anything after plugging set in. That's the only action you can do to "revive" the set. If you will be able to turn set on manually and "free standing" without any external connections, except power cord, check your remote control unit. 95% of consumers turn on their sets via "clickers". In case of complete failure, you might have month or 10 month left of factory warranty, depend on price you paid. Use it a.s.a.p! If needed. There is no magic button to heal broken circuitry.
Good luck,
Alex.

Unable to control channels or volume

Is the remote a universal? Make sure you select TV as the the device you are trying to control. You can also fix a wonky remote by popping out the batteries and mashing down all the buttons. This rids the remote of any built up electricity that could be hampering functionality. Also, the remote sensor on the TV is controlled internally of course so a power drain of the TV wouldn't hurt:

1. Unplug the product's power cable so that the device is not grounded to the house. Do not simply turn off the power-bar if one is in use.
2. Press and hold in the products power button for 1 minute to release the retained electricity from the capacitors and circuit board. 3. Plug the product back into the wall outlet rather than a power-bar to rule it out of contributing to the problem and turn the device back on.
What do the buttons on the TV itself do? Do they work properly? If not, the problem is going hand-in-hand with the remote and again, the problem is internal and service or a firmware update, if available, may resolve this.

LG LCD and LG DVD remote codes

If both units are LG you don't have to program anything. Below the power button are 6 buttons labeled TV, DVD, etc. As soon as you push the DVD button the remote should work it. Remember to push the TV button again to make it work the TV.
