It appears this model Teac cannot play MP3 music files. If the player does not have a MP3 logo on the player then it cannot play MP3 files/music.

Need hookup instructions (sound)

I can't find a manual for that particular model but there's not a wgole lot of variation among CD players. The back will probably have 1 or more of the following:

analog RCA stereo pair Line Out
digital coaxial output
digital optical output

Standard stuff.

For digital audio conenct the appropriate digital output to a compatible digital input on a receiver or other digital audio device.

The Line Out is vanilla analog audio. Conenct it to any Line Level input except PHONO.

The unit rarely plays CD's anymore. It spins the

most likely a bad laser lens or out of adjustment.

This is a faulty loading motor. you will need to replace the entire optical lens assembly in this case. the motor is part of the assembly.

Hi

I think that we can get at least one of them going again :)
I suggest

take the lids off both of them.
load up some Cd's and close the drawer and watch what happens.
does the disc begin to spin, is not, do you hear any noise as it tries to read each disc.
can you kick start the CD when it first loads(clockwise direction)
if not of these things happen, can you see if the transport loads the cd up off the tray.

While you are in there, with the front drawer open you should be able to see the laser lens. Use a cotton bud moistened with windex(glass cleaner) gently clean the lens in a circular motion and then also polish it with a dry one to be sure you have left no smears on the lens. Then.... try the unit again and see if the CD reads.
If you don't have any luck this far, please post back to me and we can try some other things. All this and you give me a FixYa... YAY :)

I works mechanically, but doesn't play the CD

try cleaning the lens first use a lint free swab and GENTLY clean the lens. don't use any liquid on this. if that doesn't work then load a disc and gently spin the disc when it lifts into load posistion. if begins to spin on it's own then replace the spindel motor. if it still does not spin, replace the optical pickup, the EF sensors inside the pickup no longer have the ability to read (see) the disc.
