Volume up on my RAV214 remote doesn't work anymore

I have the same problem - it seems to have gradually stopped working over the past few years. It's just one ******* button. But for the life of me I can't figure out how to pop open the remote and fix it. It would probably be a real easy fix, and NO, I sure don't want to shell out $40 (or more likely $75) for a substitute remote just so I can turn up the volume on my amplifier.

I just want to open the freakin' remote, without breaking it of course. If you have one of these things you'll know what I'm talking about.

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V1000 volume control erratic, remote

Hi.

The volume knob issue alone sounds like it's hardware-related and therefore not easily fixed. Also, since the remote appears to be working (the LED's are lighting up), but the unit is not controlled anymore, the IR sensor is probably faulty as well. I would seriously consider sending this AV receiver in for repair. If it's still within warranty, you shouldn't need to pay anything for the repair.

Manual for your receiver: http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/av/english/re/RX-V1000.pdf

It's not much but I hope this helps.

SOURCE: some buttons on my remote for my yamaha htr 5750

Read this procedure to possibly fix the remote:
http://remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Display&contents=help_deadremote&uuid=A12963989782821
They also sell replacement remotes.
Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.

or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remote", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

Carl Lewis Jogging / Running Machine / Treadmill has stopped working.

If it hasn't been used for a few years, look in the manual and see if there are batteries in the control unit.

Or after all those years, just get someone in to service it.

My audio remote control stopped working on only the volume. It works to power the receiver up or off, etc., and the volume control works perfect when operated by hand, but no longer with remote.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. Surf the site with patience. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

SEVEN YEAR OLD UNIT NOT WORKING ANYMORE...ANY CHANCE TO FIX IT OR SHOULD I JUST BUY ANOTHER ONE. IT GRADUALLY STOPPED WORKING

gradually stopped
well if your not comfortable working with a magnetron, transformer, diodes, capacitors, I would get a new one. It would be impossible to nail down opn of those as the culprit, with out checking voltages, and resistance through each component.
those four components is really what makes up the microwave, and the combined costs, is 400.00
Personally if it is older than 5 years I would not sink a dollar into it..
But i am sure there are hard liners here, that will tell you to throw parts at it.....
If it is a ge, buy another one and the mounts will be exactly the same

Vur9 remote only controls the volume and nothing else, cant change channels or anything any suggestions?

Press the TV button on the lower right (not the upper right) to tell the remote to control the TV.

The upper buttons are the Input Selector buttons. The lower buttons are the Device Control Selector buttons.

I had this same problem until this dawned on me.

Vizio remote control not working

Hi, I had the same problem. My vizio remote for my 42 inch 2 month old vizio also seemed to stop working. Here's what I did: My vizio remote (like most remote's nowadays) was designed for multiple components (tv, dvd, vcr, etc). All you need to do to make the remote work again is set it back to tv. Now, the confusing thing about vizio remotes is that they actually have TWO places where you can switch the remote to the appliance you want to control. One is on top of the remote, the other is on the BOTTOM. Switch it back to TV using the BOTTOM. My remote had stopped working because I had inadvently switched it to another component on the BOTTOM component switch.
