I have an edgestar countertop dishwasher and it was working properly up until today. My room mates and I ran it just fine last time and the dishes were all cleaned but I go to reload it today and it refuses to start the cycle. It powers on just fine, then when go to hit start it does nothing for about 5 seconds and then beeps and shuts off. I can't seem to find anything about this online, any ideas? The dishwasher was cleaned of anything that could be gunking the system a few weeks ago and we haven't been cleaning anything with excess food on it. Any help appreciated, thanks! EDIT: After leaving the door open for a while thinking it might be some sort of issue with the flood sensor or something, it appears that the control panel might have gotten damaged. Not entirely sure how it happened but the system still turns on as normal but the control panel goes straight to a timer and counts down a bit before stopping around H:19 / H:18. I'm assuming some sort of liquid got into the housing but I'm uncertain.
A countertop dishwasher has a sensitive area where no water should get inside. When the door is laid down, the door latch is exposed. If water gets inside, the dishwasher can malfunction. Countertop dishwashers do not have reset buttons. Turning off and on is the only way to reset. The new dishwasher are redesigned so the latch is not exposed. See picture with pen point. It's possible the dishwasher will perform normal after water or moisture evaporates out of the door latch.
