Does the manual cover this, I'm told yes. but where is that,?
The manual on your PC covers this topic.
the chapter i called RECOVERY
all 3 ways are covered, but you said NO disk and that leaves just 1.
or buy w10 and install it, way 4.
HP.com this PC shows no w10 support at all. here.
your page is here, hp.com
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-635-notebook-pc/5086719/manuals
page 99 is the page (no disk) page
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02834036.pdf
as it says clearly on some models.
in the C: drive look for 2 HP folders. tools and recovery
if you see recovery there than it has one
or power on and hammer ESC key see bios menu pop
and press F11, (as the page 99 directs you)
goes back to day 1 new PC state. if hdd not bad and he OS not upgraded from xp to vista or vista to w7. it goes back to day1,
what was there then. 2011 year new.w8, IDK what was there.
page 7 states this: all this on one manual. correct.
Windows 7 Home Basic, Service Pack 1
(64- and 32-bit)
?Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack
1 (64-bit)
?Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1
(64- and 32-bit)
?Windows 7 Starter, Service Pack 1 (32-
bit, not supported on computer models
equipped with a 500-GB hard drive and
3- or 4-GB or system memory)
?FreeDOS
?Linux (not supported on computer models
equipped with a graphics subsystem with
discrete memory)
if the hdd was ever replaced or ungraded or newer drive, (gone it is)
or to SSD this will Be gone.
this is the only disc'less install.
and was optinal day 1 new. bought. so only looking find it if it is only 2 clicks
on "this PC" + click C:
our look in disk manager. as i did above.
answered this here, vast times, why not search or ask at HP.com
they told you yes, but lied. see????
yes /or no is the answer for a fact
sold both ways, for a fact and the manual even states that in text..

You can't unless it has the operating system on a hidden partition in the hard drive. This is actually common.
Or you can get the Windows 7 PID (Product ID) off the laptop and find an ISO copy to Win 7, load it and put in the PID that was registered to that unit.
https://www.google.com/search?q=hp+635+windows+7+laptop+reload+windows+7
..
that ISO must be for OEM w7 (rare).
or the PID/COA is useless. why told next.
that MS tag on the bottom is W7 OEM only.
OEM COA key lic. never works on any "retail" ISO or DVD versions. in fact there are more ISO.
OEM and retail Home on up to PRO) 6 license or more, even EDU;
w10 that changed. (the ISO on 10 asks for it and does the right thing, but is off topic now)
but w7 is NOT SOLD now, zero sold. MS ended all that so any ISO is Pirate ISO. or from Torrents.
to get an ISO one most make one. from DVD OEM.
also , if you moved the W7 HP_Recovery to a new HDD SSD, it now fails, because the Image is married to the 1st original HDD by serial of HDD. and also encrypted, to prevent use wrong. too.
RIP W7,
Thanks Larry for the answers.

not told why doing this. (why always matters)
so we can be on the same page, and not LOSE DATA if there is data to lose.
OS virus infected now.?
or got it from someone elses PC and want to start fresh.?
or selling PC and want it day1 reset?
or new HDD needed now failing, or bigger hdd
or new SSD? needed. fast is goal, sure !
or>???????????????????????
I can only guess RESET = fresh Install.
and F11 key failed per the manual RTM?
is the D:/HP recovery partition missing?
