Question about HP Pavilion MX70 17" CRT Monitor

Computer powers up but monitor goes right to sleep?

When I power up/reboot the computer the power indicator light is blue and appears to be functioning properly, but the monitor, while briefly powering on and progressing properly, quickly shows the message that it is going into sleep mode and then goes to sleep and dark. The monitor's power light is orange.

I've looked at all the obvious things and can't find a clear cause. Thought it may be from a power surge as this happened during a thunderstorm? Trying to get another monitor to check that, but not sure what else to look for? Help Please!?!

Hi my friend ... just go to safe mode by pressing F8 button before u see the WINDOWS logo.. and then right click on the desktop and select properties and select settings and reduce the resolution.. and then restart the sys.. this will solve the issue.. also update the video drivers and BIOS from the vendors website... take care..

I have a acer.x223w when,it powers up the.screem stays black, n i get a blue blinking light on.the bottom

I disagree with ikkenom only due to the symptom of the flashing blue light. This would indicate to me that the monitor is not getting any display signal and is in sleep mode at least the is what happens on my Samsung monitor. Used to be that they use a two color led in the monitor, green when ON and getting display signal and amber or orange when in sleep mode. I would check the computer by trying a different monitor. If you have a second monitor, great, if not, maybe a friend will let you bring your computer over and try the computer with their monitor. Could also be a display adapter setting. Do you get any change when you first turn on your computer? i.e. Do you get the BIOS or manufacturer screen when first turned on? Also if you disconnect the monitor cable from the computer and power cycle the monitor, do you get a No Signal display for a few seconds before the monitor goes black and the blue light starts flashing?

Let me know what happens with the testing above or if you need further instructions to carry out testing.

Thanks, Jim

Monitor goes black seconds after showing desktop

Does your monitor go black because it went to sleep, does it turn off? Do you have any lights on the monitor to indicate what it is doing?

Also I would boot into safe made by rebooting the computer & tapping F8 when the bios appears. You should be prompted with several options, one of which is "Safe Mode". Choose this & report how the monitor behaves.

My Acer LCD monitor goes into sleep mode (switches off) all the time though the power button remains blue. When I switch off the power button and them switch it on, the monitor lights up for a minute and...

you must have activated the power saving option with very less time limit you may increase the limit or can off it by clicking right on your screen and then go to the appearance option there ,,,,,you can manually set your choice there .......

When I start the computer the Windows XP Logos light up on the Monitor (HP w1907) when the computer starts the Logo disappears and the monitor goes to sleep

If this monitor (HP w1907) is going into sleep mode the normally blue power led will change to yellow. This indicates loss of video signal or possible out of range resolution. If the picture goes dark and the power lite stays blue, you have a backlight malfunction. It can be an inverter power fault but this model mostly has worn out backlights causing a shutdown condition.

My monitor goes to sleep and doesn't come back on.

For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode .
Then go to display property and set screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
if still not work then try safe mode then uninstall graphic driver and reinstall.
When you power up the computer press F8 key untill you see windows logo.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using Fixya.

You can google search for an app called NOSLEEP.EXE
It was written by a Symantec employee to keep your screen active regardless of pic settings.

Monitor has no picture

Yes! :)

Your monitor is not the problem. Check all the connections from the back of the monitor, to the computer.

"No Signal Analog" means your monitor is working perfectly, however is not receiving signal from the computer.

Didnt find any loose cables?
Try unplugging everything. Leave it unplugged for at least 5 minutes. You need to give the system time to drain all the excess power.

Again your monitor is fine, blue light > No signal > orange light is totally normal for your montior.
