For over a year now when we run our dishwasher it gets black film/haze only on the bottom & inside of the door, but it doesn't get on the dishes & they seem to clean fine. When you wipe it with a paper towel it a blackish/maybe hint of purple color. It's not slimy like when stuff builds up at the door bottom corners & doesn't have any sediment or anything in it. Not clogged with food in the basket & seems to drain fine. No smell either. I have done all the vinegar, cleaning tricks, and switched detergents.
Any ideas?

There is a water inlet filter at the inlet valve. The dishwasher has what is known as a food disposer waste system. It has stainless steel blades which actually grind the food particles and then drains them with the water.
You could try adding vinegar to clean the white film off. If you wanted to be aggressive with it try using CLR to clean off the film from the dishwasher.
This is due to a detergent issue, you need to run a dishwasher cleaner in it. You can pick some up at any hardware store. The brand I use is called dishwasher magic, you place it in the lower rack and a wax plug melts mid cycle, I would buy atleast 2 of them. Dishwasher soaps have changed and you film is due to the change in detergent
bleach is always good i suggest you cover the dishwasher with a good plastic film after you spay it with bleach to keep the mould inside it till you can remove it
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).
Also, There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.
**Water temperature Note***
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.
Concerning the Film.
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner. There are a few out there, Try Dishwasher Magic.
I have a similar KitchenAid model and we always ran it in energy saver mode. Over time, there was a significant buildup of mold/mildew in the unit that was not easily noticed.
Since that time, I took apart the inside of the unit and thoroughly cleaned it with bleach.
Now, we never use the energy saver mode and we use the sanitizer to make sure it gets hot enough so that it kills the mold/mildew on every cycle. The mold has not come back in over a year.
