Hi Ken, you eeprom has corrupt data, the IC can be replaced but it requires advanced soldering skills and the equipment to do it, best thing is replace the main board,

If the screen is still on but is black, try changing the channel on the set itself back to the channel it was originally on. If you can provide me with the model name of the TV (usually somewhere on the back of the TV), I might be able to find out how to re-set up your remote with it.

Have a Philips 20mf605t/17. It powers on and with coax connected displays picture and audio fine on channel 4. Trying to change volume or channel the set resets. I can open and navigate the menu but...

With the set ON. Press the volume up AND volume down at the same time. OR
Press the channel up AND channel down at the same time.

This is a common problem. Its called a convergence failure.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

Screen Looks 3D
Colors wont align
Video may look distorted

Problem #2 CRT Fluid has clouded over. Symtoms

Dull looking video
White looking video
Halos around objects
Red/Orange looking video

Go to http://www.m4c.magnavox.com/ then click on product support, select your model, then click on software and downloads. Download the latest software release for your tv and follow the instructions for installing the software.

Cannot turn tv off with power button or remote , must unplugpower

It could be a stuck button on the set. check to make sure they all feel the same.. If one don't feel right try to free it .. If a button is stuck it wont let any of the others work or the remote.
