Canon PowerShot A530 camera. Format isn't an option on my camera.
I have a PowerShot A530 camera and bought the right memory card which is an SD 2GB, but it still says memory card error so I tried formatting it but it's not an option. Please help me.

The card is obviously too large, in memory capacity terms, for the camera. In fact, it might not be an SD card, but an SDHC card. "SD" cards larger than about 2GB are actually SDHC cards. I'm not sure about the 2GB ones, maybe there are some of each type. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different electrically. Many cameras won't work with SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.
A 1GB card is plenty of space. If you really need more room, carry a spare card, like people used to do with films.
Hi! I'd guess that the memory card you've bought is a SDHC card and/or a card of more than 2GB, which - unfortunately - is NOT supported by your camera. Please note that it only supports normal SD or MMC cards in capacity of up to 2GB.

The A530 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it will fit into the slot, it won't work there. You need to go with SD cards 2GB and smaller.
It's a good bet that anything 4GB or greater is a SDHC card (look on the card, see if SDHC is written there). Your A530 was designed before the new SDHC format came out. Sorry, but your camera will not recognize this type of card. Recommend instead that you get a 2GB standard SD card. They're relatively inexpensive these days.
