Hi everyone, I have an oldy STR DA50ES, but now I have no sound in any channel. I turn on, here the first click, then hear the second click of the relays, but no sound at all. do you have any tip where I can start looking? I already tried to switch from speakers A to B, like a user told here at the forum, but without luck. PS. sorry for my english. I'm from Portugal. :-) Update #1 - I didn't find any blown fuses or capacitors.
You may be lucky and after resoldering the main output section, it might spring back to life.
Testimonial: "thanks for your quick replay. how can I identify the main output section?"
thanks for your quick replay. how can I identify the main output section?
From your last question I would suggestyou should be taking it to a Sony Authorised repair workshop for repair.
:-( please don't leave me...
So I found myself on vacation and start trying to repair this.
I already resoldered all the main board and the rear amp board.
then when I turn it on, it appears the "Protector" warning.
I checked if I made some shortcut on any track, but didn't find any.
So I started disconnecting the resistors that triggers the protector circuit.
I disconnected R529, R579 and R629. I also disconnected R729 and R779 from the rear amp board.
still showing "Protector".
then I disconnected R632 and ... voila! the "Protecto mode" disappear and I can rear the relays clicking to connect the speakers.
But I didn't connect anything because I want to get to the bottom of the issue.
can anyone give me a help on what can be wrong since it is behind R632?
thanks.
You have disconnected the protect line from the Surround amplifier. Connecting a good loudspeaker to the faulty surround amplifier will damage your speaker!
Fix the problem, don't bodge it.
"Fix the problem, don't bodge it." - seriously?
I just said that I didn't connect anything and was trying to isolate the faulty channel.
Since April I being asking for some help or tips,
And you that have the label "Sony Master" and Admin are the first one to not help.
shouldn't be the opposite? An Admin shouldn't promote the users to help each other in a forum like this?
So sad this...
I managed to find the 2 faulty components by myself, and now it is working flawlessly.
Really... so so sad this.
Reading your post, there is no indication that you were going to repair it, just get it going. As a responsible Sony service agent, I am expected to ensure that the item is repaired. I see so many half fixed items that have failed straight away. It is my profession.
If my wording was see as abrupt, I appologise but I now know, with confidence, you have repaired it.
