Question moved from Washing Machines. This sounds like a stove hob. 'make model (what it is)' in all questions please.

Replace it. The element has blown and caused a dead short.

I just changed heating elements in my edenpure usa 1000 and now it keeps tripping my power strip ?

Check to make sure that the elements are weird in the right place.
See if there is any loose screws or metal on metal.
The elements might be bad
If wired wrong it may not be making a proper circuit.
Check the pcb boards to see if it is touching metal on the bottom side of board.
If you put a screw in the wrong spot it may be grounding something out.
Check all wires for bare spots

I have a apw wyott eletric hot plate model chp-1a. Lately, it keeps on tripping the circuit. Can any one tell what's wrong? thanks. tt

If the breaker trips immediately when you plug it in, then you have a short in the power cord. If it trips when you turn it on then look for a short at the switch or the burner element. If it stays on a while and heats up then trips, it could be a fault inside the element or possible wiring connectors that are not good and tight. Look for discoloration in the wires and connectors.

Have a new electric cooker but the oven and 1 of the hob plates isn't working dc5422 beko

hi chances are that the internal thermal cutout fuse has gone this fuse is situated on the right hand side of the cooker when you have taken the back plate off about half way down it has two wires attached to it and is screwed with a self tap on the right hand corner of the body of the cooker near the middle of the cooker. You can buy this part and have it delivered for about £6 so is a very cheap fix.

Hi, my hotpoint wd860g washer dryer keeps tripping the fuse box. sometimes 20 mins in to a wash and sometimes up to 40 mins and then will keep tripping over and over. then it will run for a bit again and...

Hi,
The most common reason for this is a Short circuit dryer element.
the best way to find out is to isolate the dryer and try it.
UNPLUG FROM MAINS FIRST... remove lid, you will then see the dryer box. on there is a fan (2 wires) thermistor (little wire plug goes in there) possibly a thermostat with a red or yellow dot in the middle or it could be a thermal fuse which looks like a long yellow thick wire, and finally the element, There are 2 different types of element, what you need to do is disconnect the wires to the element, put insulation tape around the ends of the wires and tuck them out of the way of the metal dryer box.
Put it on a wash cycle, if it does not trip then it is the dryer element.

Please note, with these wires disconnected, you will not be able to do a dry cycle as lights will flash.

Hope this helps..

No heat F-10 F-08 HOTPOINT ULTIMA CTD80

When you take the large metal plate off the back of the drier you will see the 4 elements (bars/coils with fins!). separate the plate from the element bracket by removing the 2 screws. there are 3 round cylinder type electrical connectors, there will be a black one with a hole (approx 2mm) poke a small pin into it and you will hear a click. This is the Bi-Metallic thermo cut out device. as it has tripped once it will have slightly weakened the "sprung contact", This may cause it to trip again a little while later. A new thermostat will be required if it keeps returning. dont forgot to clean the condensor unit on a monthly basis.

Dryer keeps tripping breaker. slight burning

The heating element is shorted. This is an electric dryer, right? replace the heating element. Make damn sure it's un-plugged when you work on it!

Smeg SNZ91MFX1 Fan heating not working

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.
