Question about Fisher and Paykel Fisher Paykel Intuitive Eco Washer IWL15

1 Answer

My Fisher and Paykel washer is leaking water from bottom back right side in the rinse cycle. Any thoughts?

Washer runs and spins great but leaks on the rinse cycle. It’s a top load GWL10US model. The drain hose was wet at the elbow where it meets the pump hose after we ran a wash but dry at the top where it enters the unit.

No clue to whether a top loader or a front loader, which is why we ask for full 'make model (what it is)'.

If it is only in the rinse cycle, and if it is a front loader it is likely to be spray of a crack in the box that is the detergent drawer and fabric softener mixer. The only way to find out is to remove the top after a wash and look for where the water came from.

On a top load it is likely to be from the drum to the pump, or the drain hose itself. There is also a diverter valve involved in water management. Cracks don't need to be very big as the flex and open during running.

Here is the Service Manual, just because I came across it. Deals mainly with the electronics.

Would there be any harm if I duck taped the elbow that was wet and then ran a wash to see if the drain hose stayed dry?

You can try it. It the pipe is dry it should hold.

Washer leaking water while spinning

Check the drain hose where it leaves the machine, if the square section of it is not in the plastic housing it will cut on the cabinet, if this has happened replace the hose they are difficult to repair, Other possibilities, pump is leaking, and check that the inlet hoses are not leaking and have washers in every connection.

Clogged pump stopped up drain. If the washer does not think all water was pumped out in 8 minutes then it shuts down. Slow drain is my first inclination.

Fisher and Paykel Washer Leaking

For those with water on floor after wash, check my post on "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". It could be something clogging drainage area at very bottom of the tub. I couldn't see the sock that was stuck in my FP's drain when I looked from the top between the white outer tub and the wash tub--everything looked fine. Then I removed the black motor/white plastic housing piece--Tip back washer and you should see this black electric motor/white housing on bottom. see my post for how to remove and check for plugged drain. it's really pretty easy.

don't know about outer tub holes, but glad i don't have that problem.

i hate my fisher paykel washer/dryer. i can't wait to sell this house--i will leave them here and get a new front load Duette for my next house!

GWL11 Machine adds water during spin cycle and leaks on floor

diverter valve is not switching to pump the water out. instead it is resurculating back into the tub.
