Old Philips Record player start lever stuck

Hi. My record player's start button is stuck. It's one of those levers you push downwards from Stop to Start to Auto. There is definitely power and the motor is turning when I lift up the board/turntable to look at wiring. It's like a gear is stuck or something. Any suggestions?

I assume the player is fully automatic? Try this. Lift the tone arm with the que. move the arm to the center of post. Example end of a record. Rotate the platter so arm automatically rejects itself. This may correct the start button.

How do I turn a technics Quartz SlQ200 on

Assuming it does not need repair, you should be able to slide cueing lever to the right (raising arm), then place over the record and the platter should start turning. Just slide cueing to left and needle should gently drop on the record. Just press stop button to return the arm and platter should stop/turn off.

Why does tonearm drop in middle of record instead of start of record

It thinks it's a 45 rpm. There is a trip lever near the edge of a 33rpm record on the turntable that may not be working properly.

Tone arm keeps returning to rest on Crosley CR249

Hi, Try this. with it turned off. Lift tone arm across a record to the run out groove and set it down. Now power up and hopefully it will reset itself. In all honesty I would sell it and get a decent old school player. John. Styluscity.com

It says blocked

Hi - there are three possibilities, two you can take care of. the first is that there is a disc stuck in the player or number two the player for some strange (but not uncommon reason) became stuck. To address this there is a small slot on the underside of the machine that's there to provide access to the manual opening lever (the white nub). Moving the white lever will probably open the drawer.
If that doesn't work it's probable that the drive belt inside the player is broken and will need service.

Automatic recording?

Check that the record button on the player is not pushed in. It could be the button stuck behind the casing, or the microswitch on the main circuit board stuck against the switch mech. This should be apparent, as there would be no click when you push the record button.

Also check the REC button on the remote control.

Both of these potentially could cause the symptoms you describe.

The remote control for the later VR series does not, as you say, have an eject button. There is no alternative unfortunately.

Early tone arm pickup

On some record players there is an adjusting screw at the back of the tone arm that adjusts the tone arm drop in location but I don't think it will adjust the pick up point. That is controled by a steel rod under the record player deck that moves over and pushes a little trip lever near the center of the platter so that a gear is engauged and the end of record cycle is started. I'm not sure but you may be able to find an adjustment under the deck that is near the rotation point of the tone arm that will adjust that rod so that it will pickup later. Hope this helps some.
