It used to be that you could reset a Uniden scanner by holding down the #2 and #9 buttons while turning on the radio - that MIGHT do a factory reset for you. Let me know.
the Bearcat uniden 144-xlt and the Uniden Bearcat 145=xlt are the same scanner, the only thing it the case on them are different so they could sell new scanners eachyear. Those manuals will work for the bearcat 147-xlt, hope this helps some people out there
Download a schematic from modsdk.com or radio reference.com.Then change the two regulators in the back left corner.Should be a 78mo5 and a 78mo9.THE 7805 is the one usually goes out.
You can try a system reset (press and hold 2,9, and MANUAL while powering up), but chances are that the display is shot. You can try a local repair shop if you have one that you trust, but I recommend contacting the service folks at Uniden.com for a price quote on repairs.
Is your ic chip good? This is located on the side of the radio, it has sveral legs. Put your fingure over the legs,do you hear any noise,Do this with the radio on, If you don't hear anything your IC chip is bad.
