Whirlpool range SF362LXSS0 replaced both igniters and still oven won't turn on

Cooktop works fine. This range was in a new home my son bought so we don't know much about it. Owner says oven stopped working after her husband passed and she never had it looked at. We are hoping to be able to fix since a new range is not in the budget. Thanks for your help.

All Gas Ovens can be fixed, but the should be serviced by a registered gas technician. The spark igniter is only one part of the lighting procedure, they also have a thermocouple, which is a safety device that open the main gas valve once certainly criteria are met usually a pilot light flame. The parts schematic shows the gas valve and it is $181. I don't see a safety thermocouple.

This is the part that is likely to have failed, but I am reluctant to suggest you change it on my say so. Pay the extra $75 for a qualified technician to diagnose and replace. It has electrical contacts, so the fail safe is probably inside and is dependent on the spark igniter being fully functional.

Feature not available
I had the same problem with a new kitchenaid range which they have agreed to replace after 1 month. Oven shut off a couple times while baking and feature not available displayed when trying to turn on oven again. I tried starting clean cycle and waiting a couple minutes for element to heat then cancelled clean cycle. Oven worked fine after this but this shouldnt be a solution, obviously something not wired right.

Is there a pilot for the oven that can go out and needs to be manually relit? I have alrady replaced the igniter
The Whirlpool SF357 (SF357PEKQ0 specifically) does not have a pilot light; only the electric igniters that light the gas on demand for both the range and the cooktop.

On my gas ovens, checking the ignition is easiest with the warming drawer removed and the cover plate removed from the oven. Do you see a glow at the igniter? If yes, then the igniter is probably working. If not, check that the wiring harness between the igniter and the control board is connected and giving the appropriate power.

The next thing to check is that the oven gas valve is open. (Mine have a separate valve here.) Then check that nothing is blocking the gas line and that the regulator is opening and closing properly. We had an old oven that would start the gas flow and come up to temperature normally during the pre-heat time. However, when the oven cooled, the regulator wouldn't reopen thus the oven wouldn't stay at temperature. The regulator could be forced to open with a tap to the mechanism when the oven needed to come back to temperature.

Oven wont come on, installed new igniter
Make sure there's power getting to your range, oven or cooktop. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.


A faulty igniter is probably the most common cause, however there are others:

-- defective thermostat
-- defective selector switch
-- defective gas safety valve/coil assembly

Whirlpool Gold electric range control panel not working
I live in a new 500 home subdivision. The contractor ordered all Whirlpool Gold products including Electric and Electric/Gas Ranges. Many of my neighbors' panels have gone out! I'm talking about epedemic trouble. My son has had his oven panel (separate from stovetop) fail within the first year. Thank God it was under warranty...this is not a cheap replacement (he had the sensor touch pad. I just had my oven pad fail. I tried to set the clock for Daylight Savings and found out half my panel is out! The fix is a replacement of the panel. Depending on which model (push or sensor) look to spend at least a couple of hundred bucks. We have the Whirlpool Gold microwave panel and so far so good. My neighbor and my son's both went out! They just tossed the two year old products and replaced them with another brand. Sorry to break you the news...class action anyone?
