HP 4535 inkjet printer, error code problem.

If you have a C6180, the error code you give here is not in the manual, so you better contact HP service centre like the manual explains.

There is a thin (1/4"wide) plastic strip running across the width in front of and below the drive belt. This part is related to the optical encoder which tells the print head where it is. Look closely, there are fine black vertical lines on this strip. If the strip gets a piece of crud on it, you get an error during the start up sequence. Softly clean this strip with a damp lint free tissue. This also fixed a gap in the printing running lengthwise (not across the page like a clogged head).

*** Fix your HP Photosmart D7360 (Reset Code/Master Reset) ***

1- Turn off power and unplug from power source.
2- Open right side of printer (looking at the front).
3- Disconnect,by pulling gently, both white flat ribbon cables off the main circuit board.
4- Plug in power source and turn printer on. Wait till you get a error message and push "Ok".
5- Unplug power source.
6- Reconnect the flat ribbon cables by aligning and carefully pushing into the conectors on the main circuit board.
7- Plug in power source and turn printer on (Printer preparing occurred).
8- voila, the nasty error message 0xc18a0001 "Ink System has Failed" is now gone. http://www.fixya.com/support/t451942-help THIS WORKED!!! Don't throw it out try this first for: Ink system failed Errorxc18a0101 on photosmart D7160. This is to reset the error code only,you will need to explain in more detail why you got the code and what you've done to correct it.

first check the card to make sure it isn't write protected, if it isn't write protected, put the card into a camera and the camera should fix it

The 08 portion of the code indicates FRONT PANEL. the :11 is an action code requesting RESEAT, CLEAN meaning you should reseat the connectors at the display and on the other end at the electronics. Not really a solution but.....spent hours on the phone to HP helpdesk & then they were also having to explain how we could log in to help website. Eventually we managed to get the issue sorted (the cartridges work & printer isn't giving us an error message) but still not quite sure how - just had to follow endless instructions (lots didn't work). Probably was a case of patience & getting through to someone who could actually help with the problem. So all OK - until next time the cartridges need changing! Thanks anyway.

Take it back to the dealer! Better do not fix that problem by opening the printer! If it is a second hand printer, write again here.
