I have a Danby dishwasher model #DDW1809W that will not fill with water. Lights work, beeps, no errors. When I start the machine I hear some noises but no water. As far as I can tell from reading the pdf manuals there is no float in this machine, but there HAS to be some form of overflow protection that could malfunction. What could be the problem?

I would check the water solenoid firstly as the sensor detects water level and if the sensor thought the level was too high, it would command the outlet pump on until the level went down.

DDW1809W-1 still acting up after I went back to normal dishwater soap

Turn off the mains power overnight. Run two cycles with no detergent. You can put lightly soiled items in and they should still come out reasonably clean.

Wash pump went out. Drain pump still works.
Not enough water. Improper water fill.

When the dishwasher is turned on it just makes a whirring sound but does nothing. It started making a lot of noise before the cycle finished a few days ago.

The whiring noise is the machine giving itself time to fill with water before it kicks into the next cycle stage, if the machine sensor doesnt detect water within the time set the machine will not go to the next stage and will detect/display a machine fault/error. Can you hear water flow into machine while hearing this noise also? If not This would suggest water intake to machine has been interrupted. if the water flow is not interrupted then with the soap not dissolving it could be either temp thermostate or pump blokage. You'll need your model number to search for the machine Service manual online if you don't still have it. *Do not attempt to clear pump/ diagnose or open your machine without turning machine off and disconnecting plug from the wall*

How do I fix my Danby Dishwasher? It fills with water then immediately drains.

Most likely the flood switch is triggered. This causes the pump to operate as soon as you start it. Check if the float at the base comes up when you press it by hand. If not the float spring might be stuck and pressing the flood switch underneath.

Water not flowing into Danby 18"

Okay, this might seem crazy, but it worked. I spent the last 2 days trying to contact Danby customer service to no avail, so I came back here to look for solutions. Found two:
(1) Someone said to open the little rubber cover under the front right of the machine...I couldn't find such a cover.
(2) Someone said to pull off the front plastic panel...mine doesn't seem to be removeable.
So! I turned my Danby DDW1805 upside-down (!) to see if I could locate the aforementioned rubber cover, and a bunch of water drained out of the machine. This is what both solutions above said I wanted to happen, so I flipped it back right-side up and hooked it back onto my faucet.
Golden. Works perfectly again.
