Washing Machines will not rinse or spin

If the water won't drain out of your washing machine, either something is stuck in the drain hose or pump, or the pump is broken. Both fixes are simple if you're even just a little bit handy with tools. We're showing the repair on a Maytag washing machine.
What is wrong with a washer that does not spin?
If your washer fills with water but doesn't agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drivewashing machines do not have belts.) To diagnose the problem, do the following: 1Check the washing machine's spin cycle.

WASHER DOESN"T SPIN OR DRAIN

If your washer doesn't drain or spin, you may read and learn what parts may cause this. First, you will want to check your water pump. You need to make sure it is working. Make sure you check the belt on the pump. Make sure it is not broken or loose. Also, make sure your pulley is not stuck in place. Sometimes, they will stick or barely turn at all. If this is the case, you will need to replace it. If the pump, pulley, and belt are working, make sure your motor is working. You should be able to hear it if it is. You want to make sure that the water pump is getting power also. You can use a voltage meter to test the current. If the pump is getting power but still will not work, check your lid switch. You also need to make sure that the pump is not clogged. Check the drain hoses and check inside the pump because it can get clogged and cause draining problems. The lid switch can cause the motor to not work. It may need adjusted. If not, go ahead and change it. A bad lid switch may cause the washer to not work at all. Now, if your pump is pumping and the washer still won't spin, you will want to check your belt and clutch. Once again, the belt may be broke or loose. Check to make sure your clutch is not worn also. This may be a case of a bad lid switch again as well. You could have a bad drive motor. This is what controls spinning, draining, and agitation. You could have a broken motor coupler. Over time, they will go bad and need replaced. It is possible that your transmission is slipping or damaged. And lastly, you could have a bad basket drive or spin bearing. This is what allows the inner tub to move. If this is the case, you will probably hear loud sounds or loud banging. You want to make sure the washer is not out of time also. You may have a bad timing switch. I want to thank you for reading and I hope this helps you. Best regards and thanks for reading.

Spin cycle doesn't work.

Hello.

Here are names of tools and instruction below to solve theproblem
  • Screwdrivers,Flashlight,Voltmeter,Wrenches,Bucket,Rags or mop
There are several reasons that a washing machine won't drainor spin. The cause could be something as easy as a clog or something difficultthat will need a licensed repairman. Start with the simplest possible cause andwork down to the more difficult causes. ·1A washing machine won't spin if the water can't drain. Check hoses for anykinks or clogs that may prevent the water from draining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If it can't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses. This can bedone by using the screwdrivers to remove the hoses and looking for clogs orrunning a water hose through the clogged hose to remove the clog. Use the ragsand bucket to clean up the water that comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected.Once the clog is cleared, put the drain hose back into place. The washer shoulddrain and spin now if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem. ·2 If the washer still won't drain or spin, checkto see if the lid is not closing all the way or if the lid switch is notclicking into place. Close the lid and make sure that it closes all the waydown. When the lid closes, the lid switch should click. If there is no clickingsound, then the switch may need to be replaced. Follow manufacturer's directionsfor replacing the switch. If the lid does not close all the way, visually checkfor signs that the lid is bent. If bent, try to bend it back into place. ·3 Loose or broken belts could also prevent awashing machine from draining or spinning. Pull the washer away from the walland, using the screwdrivers and wrenches, remove the back panel. Using theflashlight, visually check for any broken or loose belts. Replace any broken orloose belts. Although replacing washing machine belts is difficult, anyone whohas replaced belts on a car, lawn mower or even a bicycle chain should be ableto accomplish the task. ·4 Another possibility for a washing machine tonot spin or drain is the pump. With the back panel still off the washer, checkthe pump with the voltmeter to ensure that the pump is getting power. If thewasher is getting power, turn on the washer and listen to find out if the pumpis running but the water is still not draining. It may be necessary to removethe pump and clean it or to replace the pump with a new one. Once the pump isreplaced, turn on the washer to determine if it will now drain and spin. ·5 If all of the above steps fail to produce awashing machine that drains or spins, then it is time to call a professionalrepairman. Use the screwdrivers and wrenches to replace the panel on the washerand push it back against the wall. Thanks for using fixya.

Washer will not extract in the spin cycle

f your washing machine fills and agitates but does not drain, something is probably wrong with the drain hose or the pump. The fact that the washer fills and agitates tells you that the motor works and the belt is fine (though some units have a separate belt for the pump, and direct-drive washing machines don't have belts.) 1) Be sure the drain hose isn't kinked.
2) Check the tab on the lid that strikes the lid switch; if it is broken, the washer may stop during the drain cycle. Press and release the lid switch. If it doesn't click each time you do this, it's probably broken. If you're experienced at home repair, you can remove the switch, test it, and replace it if needed; otherwise, call an appliance repairperson.
3) The water pump may be broken or clogged with a small article of clothing, or the controls may be broken; call an
