Whirlpool dishwasher not spraying water during wash cycles Model #: WDT730PAHZ0

This past weekend, we noticed that our Whirlpool dishwasher Model #: WDT730PAHZ0 is no longer spraying water during wash cycles. It will draw water into the compartment, and drain out when the cycle is done -- but in between, there is no physical spraying of water through the sprayer arms. The unit is completely silent during those times when it would normally be spraying. We have tried different cycles; but the behavior is the same on every one we've tried. The unit is a little over two years old. Are there any suggestions on what we should be attempting in terms of trouble-shooting?

The motor is shot. A dishwasher can fill and drain water without the use of the main wash pump. Water pressure is what fills a dishwasher. A second smaller pump is what drains the water. The main water pump (wash motor) is responsible for for spraying water throughout the dishwasher’s chamber. When this goes out, it will be too costly to repair.

I have a whirlpool Adp8540 that seems to go through the wash cycle completely but when we open it up the water has not gone through the spraying arms and the soap is a solid mass at the bottom of the...

It is likely the water circulation system is faulty. This dishwasher uses a single motor to run the water pump and the drain pump. If you hear the wash pump operate during wash cycle then it is likely there is a blockage in the water circulation manifold which distributes the water through the arms.

If you do not hear the pump operate during wash cycle then the sensor is faulty. The sensor tells dishwasher to switch to drain cycle from wash cycle.

Dishes constantly come out dirty.. What temp should the water be while the dishwasher is running?

Supply water temperature should be above 120 degrees F for effective cleaning. Run hot water from your kitchen sink (your dishwasher should be tapped off the hot water line near your sink faucet) right before you start a dishwashing cycle to make sure it's as hot as it can be when the dishwasher begins filling. Also, during the wash cycle the heating elements at the bottom of the tub may turn on and warm the water further even if you select a "No Heat Dry" option causing a noticeable shot of steam to escape if you open the door during a cycle.
Note: I recently had a problem with our dishwasher (Frigidaire FDB834RFS0) causing dishes to come out dirty and the detergent dispenser to be left with undissolved detergent. Our problem happened to be caused by a partially clogged strainer in the water supply valve. (I would imagine Whirlpool most likely has some kind of filter/strainer in its water valve as well.) When the supply valve was commanded to open for some time, I noticed the water level in the tub would barely be visible below the lower spray arm. After cleaning out the strainer (required removing and disassembling the water supply valve) the water level was noticeably higher -- almost at the bottom of the float or about an inch below the heating elements. Our dishes and the detergent dispenser are now clean.
If your water supply is ok, I would next check to make sure your spray arms do not have any plugged holes and that they rotate freely. Also, use a good quality detergent and a rinse aid. We prefer liquid Cascade and Jet Dry. We have had problems with old, stale, or really thick liquid detergents and by getting a fresh jug have solved the dirty dish dilemma.
Make sure to clean out the filter basket at the bottom of the basin below the lower spray arm occasionally as it can clog and cause the pump to starve due to lack of water. If the pump can't get a supply of water to pump to the spray arms and nozzles, your dishes will not get sprayed evenly and you will end up with them being poorly cleaned.
Hope this helps you out...good luck!

The dish washer is taking ages to wash and it not clean ing dishes well

ok so If your dishwasher has worked fine in the past but, suddenly, your dishes aren't clean after the dishwasher completes all cycles:
1) Check your water heater's temperature dial to be sure it hasn't been changed recently.
2) Be sure dishes haven't prevented the detergent dispenser from opening properly during the wash cycles or kept the spray arms from turning, the lower arm from rising, or the spray from reaching the upper rack's dishes.
3) During the wash cycle, listen to the spray arm spinning inside. If it seems to be spinning poorly, clean out the spray holes in the spray arm(s) with a stiff piece of wire; wait for the machine to cool, and then remove the spray arm(s) by unscrewing the hub cap and lifting the arm(s) off

Dishwasher fills and heats water, but doesn't wash.

To tell you the truth, I don't even know what model my Whirlpool is. However, I had this same issue. My dishwasher would fill, but it wouldn't spray the water. I could hear it hum, but the motor wasn't going.

After no success finding any ideas online, I had to call out the repairman. Well, 5 minutes and $109 later it was just a simple matter of the motor being stuck. Apparently this is a common issue with GE, but not as common with Whirlpool. Just a seal that gets stuck if you don't use it for awhile (even though there hadn't been any long stretch for me). He reached in/under and turned the motor a bit over a half rotation before it broke loose. It fired up... I wrote the check ... and he left.

He advised me to run the washer on the rinse cycle at least once a week.

Hope that helps someone.

Extremely long cycle

The drying coil that is broken also heats the water during the wash and rinsing phase. Right now it is waiting for the water to heat up, that's why it's pausing. Replace broken heater, they are relatively cheap and can be gotten at repair clinic.com.

Whirlpool Quiet Partner 2

More likely: the solenoid which directs the water to either the drain or the spray arm is clogged/jammed. Located underneath near the drain line.
