When a TV is showing vertical colored lines, a loose wire cable in the TV might be the cause. If you knock on the back of the TV, the vertical colored lines MAY disappear temporarily. This is a sign that a cable is loose or the T-Con board is faulty.
A black screen could just be a sign that the TV is turned off, although if it is producing sound then you know that's not the case. When your TV has a black screen even when it's on, it's quite possible it could actually be your external device and not your TV.

Hook the Tcon cable back up and do this. With a program running on the TV, shine a flashlight in the screen. If you can't see movement from the program, then the Tcon board is bad. you can get parts from here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

Probably the t con board of your TV is faulty. T con board is the one which drive the lcd pixels. You have to replace the T con board to get it work properly.

Lines on the screen usually is a problem with LVDS board, panel or the ribbon cable to the panel. Set should have audio though. the main board processes both audio and video but will not produce colored lines.

Get a diagnoses done on the set. It is possible you could have one of the following problems;

bad LCD panel
bad t-con board
bad ribbon cable connection

if the vertical line goes out after warm up, it was an indication of t-con board malfunction. but before you come up with replacement with a new t-con board you must check first a loose connection. usually at the LVDS cable going to the t-con board. tried to re seat those cable connectors. turn off then unplug the tv while doing this to avoid damage with other parts and for safety reason. the t-con board is mounted under cover with metal shield. hope this can help good luck.

Hi, I just read what you have posted on my LCD TV troubleshooting guide, it does not sound like bad T-CON board because you do not get the sound, you disconnected the main T-CON connector from the main board and get the glowing screen but you still do not hae sound.
In the LCD TV, you can discoonect the backlights inverter board power cables (cables from power supply to the backlights inverter board), and the T-CON board cables from the the main board to the T-CON, you should still get the sound since there are no feedback singals from the T-CON or from the backlights inverter boards to tell the main board that they are bad or not.
If you are 100% sure that you do not have sound on all the input modes then I would suspect the main board problem.
At least the backlights ineverter is good.
Do you get the 12v at the T-CON board surface mounted fuse?

I would check the LVDS cable from the main board to the t-con board and the ribbon cable from the t-con board to the LCD display for good connection. Be very careful not to damage any of these. Sometimes they become corroded.

On the back of the LCD panel at the top there is a circuit board in a metal shield. This is the T con board. There is a fragile Flat connector at the bottom of it. lightly sqeeze the sides if the connector and pull it out and the push it back in. Do this to the other end of the cable on the Main board.Be sure the tv is unplugged before removing the back cover. This cable is called the LVDS cable. If this does not fix then replace the T con board and the cable.
