I have a magnavox TV mod. No27ms343s that does not have a remote. WS using spectrum remote to turn TV and box on and off. Someone set the child lock and now I can't turn TV on at all.. can u help?
Helps? TV and cable box operated both. Now that the child lock has been turn on, the TV will no come back on. Manually

I opened the TV, but no "switch" on the PCB to do a "reset to factory". ... You almost certainly need the remote, and also the service manual that .... and I was able to get into the menu by remote and to disable the Child lock.
Depend on your remote would be easier with the remote that came with the TV. Can you acses the TVs menu with your universal? if not I don't think there's anything you can do. if yes, this how you do it:
1 Press MENU to show the on-screen menu.
2 Press VOL+ or VOL- repeatedly until SET is highlighted.
3 Press CH+ or CH- to highlight CHILD LOCK.
4 Press VOL+ or VOL- to choose ON or OFF. Choose ON to disable all the buttons on the front of the TV. CHILD LOCK ON will appear briefly on the TV screen each time you press a button on the front of the TV. You can still operate the TV with the remote control.You can still use the POWER button on the front of the TV, but only to turn off the TV (not on). Set CHILD LOCK to OFF to cancel this feature so you can use the buttons on the front of the TV again.
5 Press TV/AV/EXIT to remove the menu from the screen.
i found out on line in the owners manual that if u still have a remote control that came with the tv, u press the tv/av button and enter button at the same time to disable the child lock. New problem: u can't do it with a universal remote, even if its programmed to a magnavox tv. I called the 800 # to buy a remote control and the rep told me that it cost $50, not including the shipping and handling. so my husband put the tv in the car, brought an extension cord and took it to a local tv repairman who was kind enough to use his remote to remove the child lock for us. finally someone who is helpful for free. thanks to all the nice people out there!
take ur tv to someone local who fixes tvs, they will have a remote for a magnovox. tell them to use the remote and simultaneouisly press tv/av and enter.
i was programming my television by hand because i do not have a remote to my television and i accidentally set the child lock and now my tv will not turn on what can i do to fix my tvtv is on standby, standby light is on. can turn tv on with programable remote after pressing on button several times to set code on remote. press any function button and screen says child lock is on. can't get anywhere pressing any buttons, turn tv off with on/off button and tv goes back to stand by. don't have magnavox remote any ideas?
any magnavox controler will work just put in some good batteries . lots retail wholesale stores like walmart carries magnavox tv remotes but make sure its a magnavox.
my remote control doesn't work, and i can turn the tv on because i lock to just use with the remote control. How can turn the tv on if i do not have a remote control?
