If the TV has been powered OFF by remote control for the last time, you can't turn it ON without a remote control after that. Without turn ON, and displays a screen, how you can enter a code or any thing to activate? Therefore, it will be best to buy its original remote control. Contact the authorized dealer for Avol.
You can buy a universal remote at the dollar store for cheap and then look up the model of the TV on Google and get the remote programming code for the TV and then read the instructions on how to program the specific remote that came in the remote packaging. -OR- If you are looking for the OEM remote, I would check Ebay if I were you, they always seem to have tons of remotes and other random components you cant find anywhere else
I have a AVOL flat screen tv and I just purchase a Phillips universal remote. My tv is not listed in the manual for codes. Is there a code that I can use?
i can't help with codes for universal remote but have you tried repairing the old one ,most of all problems with remote controls can be solved by (a)checking the 433 crystal witch is a little orange or green square about 1/4 inch square this usually has a dry solered joint where movement can be felt with your finger on the solder wilst moving the crysta or(b)the same thing happens to the l.e.d. the little bulb thing that you point at the tv .hpoe this helps
I own an AVOL 19in TV, I just got my comcast cable hooked up; I too was plagued by initially having to use my other remote to turn TV/volume on/off up/down. Being the code is not listed in the Comcast universal remote instructions, in the above answers someone mentioned APEX as a parent company with AVOL; I was able to use a code from the APEX codes listed in the Comcast universal remote instructions to get the controller to work with turning the TV power on/off and volume control. The code that worked for my particular TV was 10765. Try these codes for your TV to see if they work- 10748, 10879, 10767, 10890. Hope this helps.
