I replaced all my strips which returned the picture but half the screen is darker and the colours are distorted. I took the tv apart again and I noticed that I had reversed the order of the strips based on the old tape still present. I can carefully take them off and reverse them all if that will help. However, I should point out that I can only get the strips to light up when tested from each end. To clarify, they are 9 light strips with 4 on one strip and 5 on the other. I can't get the whole 9 lights to light up when testing from one end with 3 nine volt batteries as the tester. All lights are working so wondering if the connection point between the 2 strips are the problem?
Guess I'm a little confused at what your saying. LG sets have a male and female connector to hook the two strips together, once the strips are together they can be put in either direction as the plus and minus reverse on the ends, one side has the plus on the left the other on the right, no matter what direction you put them in the polarity will be right, make sure the connectors on the end are in correct as they can be hard to get together sometimes and check the end connector plugs, I've had them seem to be in but not all the way plugged in and the string didn't work...Good luck
Thanks Larry, your answer is most helpful. I was worried that reversing the connected strips changed something. Good to know that it doesn’t matter as I was prepared to pry them all off and re-apply. I will put the connectors back on and make sure they are well seated. I’m also going to clean the ribbon ends with isopropyl alcohol to see if that will solve the image distortion on half the tv.
Your welcome!....Don't use rubbing alcohol as it will cause issues down the road, best way to clean the connectors is with a pencil eraser then wipe contacts down with a dry clean rag
