It is usually power board problem. Remove power board and check for cracked soldering components, usually D1 diode is the problem.

En algunas ocaciones este error lo marca cuando se consumen los 24 volts, ya sea por algun clutch atorado o que el tambor este muy gastado y provoca que se aterrice el alto voltaje lo cual requiere una gran demanda de corriente DC y te marca E-197

E197 0000 Printer engine communication error
Erroneous communication between the DC controller PCB and
image processor PCB was detected

- Check the connectors of the DC controller PCB and image processor PCB.
- Replace the DC controller PCB for normal connection.
- Replace the image processor PCB.

Canon error E197 0000 is a printer engine communication error.
check for firm connections on the DC controller PCB and image processor PCB. If fails to help try replacing the two printed circuit boards mentioned above in that order.

you need to remove the laser unit maybe the mirror inside the laser unit is full of toner dust try to clean it
