THE ERROR MESSAGE IS.
"YOU ARE TRYING TO CHARGE THE UNIT IN TEMPERATURES OUTSIDE OF THE UNITS NORMAL WORKING RANGE.
either too hot or cold.
try experimenting by cooling the player if its warm where you are or warming it if its cold.
if it still doesnt work when the player is in normal room temperature ( ie 10 degrees celsius to 24 degrees celcius) then the internal thermal trip is faulty and needs resetting ( a board change i would think)
not worth the time and expense for a discontinued player .
ps heres a link to the manual online

U61 is a common fault in the Panasonic DVD recorders. It is generally a failure of the DVD-RAM drive and/or the digital controller board (in some cases it is both and both must be replaced together as a module). Unfortunately these are not repairable at individual component level; they would most likely need to be replaced and fitted by a qualified technician in an authorised Panasonic service centre. The only trouble here is the potential cost(s) involved (such as labour, the DVD drive, etc) - could be expensive and/or uneconomical. However, you can always submit your unit to a repair shop for a quote and a second opinion (on the costs of the replacement part(s) as well as estimated labour charges and the extent of the problem - this allows you to make an informed decision afterwards to get this fixed, but it is up to you.

The cost of a new DVD-RAM drive (if that is the actual problem, and not the board it is connected to) is quite high; anywhere between $130 US (for XVY1961 to suit DMR-ES35V/DMR-EZ47V models) up to $450 AU for the same device plus labour costs should you choose to have it replaced.

I assume you like your unit and want it working properly. If you do decide to deal with an authorised Panasonic service centre, ensure that when the work is completed they provide a detailed report, and some sort of warranty on that repair, especially if it involved replacing the DVD drive. Unless you have an extended manufacturer's warranty on this; which means it won't cost you anything to have it assessed and repaired fully.

Error code HO3

Hi,

On most Panasonic, error code HO3 indicates a mechanical problem, more specifically, the cradle that supports the laser eye could not traverse along its patch. Corrective action requires opening the unit, cleaning the slider bar, plastic cogs, worm gear/drive. It may help to use a can of compressed air and re-lubricate appropriate parts. Since the unit is open and expectantly dust would be swirling after the use of the compressed air, it may be to your advantage to swab/clean the lens itself prior to closing.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

H03 Error

This problem is the laser optics in the wrong position.

Try to move it carefully by hand to the left near the spindle.

It may be stuck on the right side.
