Hi, Samsung TV 2016, 49 suddenly powered off and didn't come back on. No red standby light - just nothing. Took the back off, unplugged mainboard from power board, and measured the voltages - all showed 5 'ishV I guess this the standby voltage. When I unplug the mainboard from the powerboard, the backlights LEDs flash very briefly on, then off for a second or two, then quickflash on.. then off.... and so on. No noise, no click, nothing. All the tutorials I see online show a constant backlight when you unplug, so I'm a little lost what this brief flashing behaviour means. Would anyone know which component is faulty with the above described behaviour? Thanks a lot
It sounds like you may have a couple of issues, it's normal for the backlights to come on if the main is unhooked but the flashing sounds like bad lamps. The 5 volts is standby voltage, next step is measure the PS_On pin when you turn the set on and see if you get around 3 volts there, if you don't you have a main board issue.
Thanks for the response. One point - did you mean 3V or 13V? The reason I ask is that pinouts diagram says 13V.
Here is a video of the 'flashing'https://youtu.be/EVikW32p6kQ
Notice how it only flashes briefly on _one_ side of the TV - the other half remains dark.
Regarding voltages - mainboard disconnected - voltages are ca. 5-6V. Mainboard plugged in - voltage goes down to ca. 4-5V
Still not sure which component I should replace. Does the video help any?
When you unhook the main board and power the set up your turning the backlight power supply on and that should light the backlights, there are 2 separate LED circuits, in your case one is working the other is bad, the power board senses over voltage on the one that's bad and shuts both off, that's why you see the quick flash from the working string. As far as voltages what your seeing is what it should be, replace the backlights and it will work, just be careful with the screen as it's very fragile and can be broken very easily
