E1 is refering to the air filter. If turning the unit off and unplugging doesn't reset it then you probably have a PC board or sensor failure. None of these units can actually detect a dirty air filter. All it does is set a timer that turns the E1 on after what the manufacture determines is average.
Hope that helps.........
read manual for setting up temp and time Press the Set Time/Temp button until the HEAT icon is flashing.Press the up or down button until the desired heating temperature for that period is displayed. If that zone is going to be unoccupied press the Out button.-----------------https://www.northerntool.com/images/downloads/manuals/20390.pdf
The E1 error code on a Comfort Zone CZ220 heater indicates a problem with the high-temperature limit switch. This switch is a safety feature that shuts off the heater if it overheats.
To clear the error code, you can try resetting the heater by unplugging it from the power outlet and waiting for at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in. If the error code persists, it may indicate a more serious issue with the heater that requires professional repair.
Somewhere in your manual you should have a table telling your what the codes mean. I have no idea. Once you find out I can most likely direct you in how to fix it.
