Invacare Leo back wheels seizing up and also hard to push without locking in freewheel mode

hi Helen, firstly the scooter will lock up after a couple of metres , that is by design to stop you rolling down a hill etc ..

Now if the scooter is hard to push even in freewheel, means the brake has either decided to seize (lack of use , been in storage ) or has become damage. The mechanism for releasing the brake has become damaged . brake removal recommended then try to push the scooter , if it 's okay then its the brake if not , it could be the coupling between the motor and gearbox has failed or the gearbox itself has a issue,.

SHELBY ANTRIM'S MERITS MOBILITY SCOOTER HAS AN ELECTRIC SHORT SOMEWHERE BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS THE LIGHTS THE TURN SIGNALS AND THE HORN AND IT HAS NEW BATTERIES

turn the speed up some, unplug Charger, put brake lever in drive mode - hard to push, restart with the key. make sure no damage has happened to the wiring harness that connects to the back. Circuit break may need to be pushed in. this is a start. Next thing would be the Throttle and speed pot.

What fluid is used in mobility scooters electronic brake for sterling sapphire

There is no fluids in either brake on on these, there is two braking systems, both electronically operated .when stopping or slowing up power generated in motor is returned to the battery .this rapidly retards the motor dynamically braking the scooter,a fraction of a second after stopping the electric parking brake is applied by removing its 24volt supply, this is the click you hear when starting or after stopping the scooter.the only servicing reqd is to dust of the casing of the electromagnetic parking brake. do not dismantle it,or oil it.to test try to push scooter,if it moves easily when NOT in freewheel.replace it.

I would suspect the brake is not releasing correctly and dragging on the motor housing. Try driving the scooter a short distance and feel the motor case at the rear near the brake assembly if it is very warm or hot the the brake is sticking and will have to be replaced. Hope this helps

In Drive position the wheels are locked and in neutral the wheels remain locked and will not spin or free wheel. In drive with the battery in the unit just clicks but does not move, everything works such...

I would suspect that the brake is not releasing causing your problem. When you place the handle in freewheel and you can't push the scooter easily then the brake pad is stuck on the motor housing. If you are able remove the seat and back cover remove the drive wheel on the side of the scooter nearest the freewheel lever usually the right side. you should be able to see the brake attached to the end of the motor with 3 or 4 hex head screws. take the brake off the end of the motor and carefully leave the wiring attached ( don't break or remove the wires going to the brake or the scooter will not run at all) remove the brake and place or tie it up where it won't fall or drag. Put the drive wheel back on and turn the scooter on and see if it will now move. If it moves like it should you will have to replace the brake. You can drive the scooter like this but remember you do not have brakes so the scooter can roll backwards or forward when not on and especially on ramps Hope this helps

Hi. Has the machine been in regular use before the fault occured? You say that the brake is in brake release mode, this mode is only ever used if you need to push the scooter by hand. It releases the brake on the motor, and also operates a switch to disable the controller from driving the motor. It does this because it would be to dangerous to drive the scooter with the brake disabled.
Move the lever back to its correct position. If it still does not work, then the disable switch might be faulty, or it might be a different fault such as a stuck brush in the motor.
Is this machine produced by shoprider ( Phisang ) of Taiwan.
Please let me know how you get on. Neil.

Scooter won't budge

hi,

it not a flywheel, it's sounds like the brake either seized on or the controller is activating it ,

Now you will need to remove the brake mech on the side of the electric motor , and now you should be able to drive the scooter.

Please let me know how you get on.
