the answer is look in the BIOS pages all F2, in not there , then it is not there. easy as pie and 5 minutes work

no reason stated to do legacy mode, not one hint.

NO FULL PC model NOT told
the oldest I thing is 2014 (w8?) OCT , 2012 is w8 first. (model 15 - 3000 - secret sub model)
the service tag on this PC has the full model number, and was not told by you
the tag is on bottom of this PC or in the battery wells side walls. look>?>

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY LEGACY. (sure the bios page switch sure)
1: YES, IT HAD THIS IN VERSION 1. It sure did, did you look first , ???
2: TURN IT OFF OR ON; NOT TOLD but is moot point. so far, no needs told.
3: DID YOU LOOK FIRST OR ASK HERE FIRST , FOR ALL 20 VERSIONS OF BIOS USED ON THAT PC.
4; NO REASON TOLD WHY, TO BOOT DOS OF WINDOWS 95 IN MBR BOOT. MODE? NOT REASON TOLD.

Did you forget to look first, ? or ask 1st to persons that have never seen all versions (20) on this series of PC
there are many in the series and sold in USA and outside and are NOT THE SAME

NO PC TOLD>
15 3000? (this is not a PC it is ONLY A SERIES)

or ask at dell.com forum. but wait they will not talk to you lacking real model numbers in full or full service tag information told.. sorry that is how facts are learned
WHAT PC you have.

yes some older models had a LEGACY setting in BIOS for sure.
and most PC upgraded this is removed due to UEFI class 2 rules. or class 3.
all mine are class2, and no legacy seen on any dell bios page
and I use GPT boots and in non secure boot mode.

20 version of BIOS there, or more by country not told.

if you meant use non secure boot.
then the answer is here, (even told at Microsoft.com)

to turn on secure boot is easy, just turn it on bios page.
to go the other way is never easy. but here is how.
backup all data. first
set bios to secure boot.
then reload windows, fresh.

not easy see?

Legacy is a factory only for MBR boot drives, that are now banned or at last update BIOS now banned.
or buy a PC that supports CSM mode, like my DIY ASUS, Z270PRIME ,
CSM IS THE LEGACY MODULE THERE
DELLS HAVE NO CSM NOR WILL IT ALLOW TODAY TO REGRESS BIOS VERSIONS.
TRUE AT MOST OEM MAKERS OF PC.

That usually applies to desktops with an add-on car, because laptops have integrated video chips.

F2 should be your BIOS access key.

Dell inspiron 1721 hard drive not recognized for Vista reinstall

ok, theres a small issue with the raid controller. You have to install a 3rd party raid driver (its on the dell cd) to continue, OR, you can set that BIOS's hard drive controls to ATA or LEGACY (legacy would likely work best, but youd have no 'raid' functions, but who sets up raid drives on a notebook?). Your last option is use the dell discs to restore, and inssert the windws disc when prompted

My logitech ps2 trackball connected thru a ps2 to usb converter only responds on some boot ups on my dell inspiron 1705 under xp media center sp3 the device works fine on other pcs

While the computer is booting, press F2 or similar to go into the BIOS menus. When in, go through the various options (dont change anything) until you come to Pointing Device or similar. It is probably set for auto at the moment. Try changing to BOTH. If set for BOTH, then change to auto.

You may also check for legacy USB emulation and enable that as well.

I am reformatting a Dell computer useing a Samsung HD160JJ/P hard drive The OS will not load because there is no driver present for the hard drive. I need to download and reinstall the drivers. Where can I...

When installing XP, you could always go into Bios and switch Sata to Legacy mode. That will allow you to install XP. Later you could try installing the SATA drivers, and switch the Bios back to ACH1 mode (or whatever it was called). I had no luck with the latter, as there is a bit of a 'Catch 22' as Device manager does not proffer that option when the drive is in Legacy mode. I gave up and now just run it in Legacy mode. In spite of what the manual says, you will find that eSata works fine in that mode.
