i cant hear sound but my friends hear ne on the net

  • Anonymous Dec 19, 2007

Same as above. No sound. When I try to adjust volume, I get the same message. I tried to re-install the drivers, but nothing helps. The computer is a laptop with built-in speakers. The device manager tells me that the hardware is working, the drivers are up to date, but is not hooked up.

Prior to installing that update, everything was working fine, but now, nothing and I have literally tried everything. There is the speaker icon but it just has a red x next to it. Please Help!

I experienced the same no audio problem after Ultimate upgrade. Here is how I solved it.
Computer type: Dell Inspiron 1501 (Laptop)

1. Open internet browser. (in my case Internet Explorer)
2. Click on Favorites
3. Click on DELL
4, Click on Support.Dell.Com
5. Click on Drivers & Downloads
6. Click on Choose computer model
7. Select product model ( laptop, desktop....)
8. Select product model (in my case Inspiron 1501)
9. Confirm selection
10. Select operating system (in my case Vista)
11. Under category, select Audio.
12, Under downloads, select SIGMATEL-DRIVER STAC92XXX C-MAJOR HD AUDIO.
13. Select RUN.

Note: The computer went through the process of downloading and re-configuring the audio drivers. About half-way through the download, the red circle dissappeared from the speaker icon on the task bar. The computer re-booted and the audio returned.
I hope this helps.......Pete

Download Unknown Devices and run it to see exactly what driver is missing from your system

http://files4.majorgeeks.com/files/ede9a28e3faab252a9b93ed1b300de70/systeminfo/UKD_14-20_Beta.zip

if the above link does not work, google "Unknown Devices" and download the program.

Google the device and you should be able to find the driver for it in many cases, otherwise come right back here :)

I put in my Drivers and Utilities disc and I was able to find my audio driver in the driver section of the disc after it built a program on computer. Then I extracted it from the disc by clicking an EXTRACT button. It extracted and DLed for me. My sound works. If you have your driver disc, then it's easier.

I am going to give Fixya one more try before I give up with Fixya totally. I for some reason lost the audio on my computer. "No Audio Output is installed". I went to Dell website and download the driver...

Let me show you what is the problem:
1. You didn't tell us what is your Dell laptop model.
2. You didn't tell us what Windows Vista version do you have. (Ultimate, Home Premium, Home Basic, 32-bit, 64-bit)
3. What happened that led to your laptop not displaying any more any Audio Output devices.
You see, we can't read minds and without all the above information we can't help you.

Error states Spy Sweeper is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems.

This from the Webroot Web site on supported operating systems:

Windows Vista® (32-bit versions of Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate), Vista SP1 (32- and 64 bit versions of (Home Basic, Premium, Business, or Ultimate).

So, assuming you have bought the latest Spysweeper (and assuming you have Vista 64 bit) , then you need to upgrade your Vista to SP1.

No Audio Output!!??

You need to download and install the Vista compatible driver from the manufacturer of your sound card.
It is possible that if your card is old, it cannot be supported by Vista, and you will need to replace it.
